The Gurjars are setting the trend for the future. Currently there is a demand from Gurjar for upgradation of their status from OBC to ST. Soon Kayasthas in Northern India will demand for theri upgradation from UR to OBC. Then Yadavas and Lodhis would oppose this demand leading to a conflict of the same nature as between Meenas and Gurjars. There may be a situation of widespread violence and animosity among various castes of the society. Politicians will enjoy this situation. I will not be surprised if US and other developed countries impose sanctions on India for the state sponsored discrimination of its own citizens on the basis of Caste and Religion.

What a joke !!! Today they are holding Delhi to ransom; tomorrow they will also do something that will label them a terrorist. The question remains, why an ST status in Rajasthan?!! Is it because they lose out on jobs in Rajasthan because of this status; OR is it that they have been according an ST status in all the states except Rajasthan. Doesn't it reek of Politican mileage!!! Today all the public property lost, the private property lost, the delays caused by these people, should by some means "debited" to this community - at least to the MahaPanchayat which called for this bandh and violence. Gujjars as a community have contributed positively to society. Being in the capital for more than 20 yrs I have number of friends in this community. They have worked hard and earned their living, not by an ST tag, but more due to their actual calibre. This bandh is more a show of political strength and simply put "goondaism"

rightly said reservation should be phased out.
NO matter who is getting it if at all you want to promote backwards give them economic benefit. give more scholarships give more money make education free but no reservations in competitive exams.
by giving aren't we comprmising on the quality of the people who are getting on board be it IAS/MEdical/ENGG/IIM etc why do we have less qualified people on bopard just because they are from a particular caste.
rather give econmically weaker sections amenities to compete but competition should be fair and only best should win.

Righly said. Not only one time benefit. Its going to be a recurring benefit for a person who is enjoying SC/ST benefite like in promotion, for next generation. A holistic view of upliftment is required by means of free education, coaching centre to preparation for competative exams etc. In phases present quota should be abolished
it is better if there is no reservation, but due to vote bak politics, it cannot b wished away. It is surprising that gajars and meena r fighting so that they get maximum benefit from reservations. How selfish these people r. I think that we should adopt following procedure for the benefit of the really needy people in the country.
-provide reservation purely on economic ground, with provision of stringent punishment for anyone getting such reservation by providing wrong economic backwardness documentation -strictly enforce one child norm like china. increasing population is a bottleneck in providing enough to everyone. it is also responsible for global warming, which is going to cause lot of natural havoc in the world very soon, without discriminating on the basis of caste or religion. -start putting expenditure tax. this will reduce excessive expenditure by people, which causes heart burning in poor people and it also causes burning of oxygen gas in the atmosphere adding to global warming, about which i have written above.
THE ABOVE MEASURES WILL FACE RESISTANCE INITIALLY THERE MAY B SOME BLOODSHEDING ALSO. BUT IN THE LONG RUN THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION TO THE HIGHLY DISCRIMINATORY RESERVATION POLICY, WHICH ALLOWS RICH PEOPLE ALSO TO GET RESERVATION, ONLY BCOZ THEY BELONG TO A PARTICULAR CASTE AND SOME POOR PEOPLE FROM THE SAME CASTE MAY ALSO NOT B GETTING THE BENEFIT OF RESERVATION BCOZ OF SUCH RICH AND HIGHLY SELFISH PERSONS GETTING THE BENEFIT OF RESERVATION.

Does becoming ST help the cause? Has any Gujjar or St category person not achieved anything in life? They have. Ambedkar did. So many others have. Without reservation.... yes without reservation. And do all those who get reservation become super achievers???? No they do not. What matters is hard work and determination. Be it a Brahmin or a Gujjar or any Sc ST they should concentrate on working hard... and growing in life and not on Baisakhi of reservation... become self dependant....
