Congratulations Dr. Pachauri
by Kuldeep Chandra on Oct 12, 2007 07:18 PM

Dr. Pachauri has been one credible environmentalist and based his statements on facts and figures. He may be called the father of the words "sustainable developemnt".He has been one one of the earliest to think of energy mix beyond petroleum and worked for it at TERI and stilla works for it. Though his organization under UN gets it but the organization has performed well under his leadership. Varoius scientists and professors get prizes. Many times because of team of students that work under professors for years.
Congratulations Dr. Pachauri for your yeomans service to society and being vociferrous on envirnmental issues.
Knowledge is not meant to comquer nature but is entirely meant to live in accordance with her. I am impressed by your clarion call to research and work for adapting ourselves to climate change an inevitable natural phenomenon.

It's the IPCC stupid!
by S on Oct 12, 2007 07:00 PM

..and not Pachcauri, who has won the prize. We Indian's are too fast to take credit!! If UN wins nobel today, will it entitle Ban Moon Kyi to state that I have won the prize? But it seems Indian media has assumed that it is due to Pachauri IPCC has won the prize. IPCC has been doing work for over decades and they got recognition for that. Pachauri as DG has every reason to be happy but should not pose as if he has won it.

Did I misread
by Virendra Singh on Oct 12, 2007 06:00 PM

Excuse me but the award has been given to Al Gore and IPCC and not to Mr. Pachauri himself.
IPCC is an UN body and could have anybody as its chief.
People are mentioning that Mr. Pachauri has win the award which is incorrect.
