There is lot of support for Haneef & his ilk in India(Secular estab.).In India ordinary life is cheap for the Rulers(politicians & the Babus) but not in Australia so Aussies will leave no stone unturned to give Hanees his due.

Dont believe the obvious
by Pakkiri on Jul 23, 2007 10:02 AM  | Hide replies

We are getting only piecemeal information. Such tactics is employed by police all over the world. Information so given out may not necessarily be an admission of failure by the police, but a way of progressing the investigation. So dont believe the obvious and come out with our own conclusions. Let the investigations conclude. If Haneef comes out clean, he will be home soon. All detained people are never culprits, but only suspects. A few innocent people also will have to pay a price for the rule of justice.

One Mr. Indur Chugnani is crying hoarse about rogue police. The `social activist' deemed it fit to fight against the rogue police only after he had a personal bitter experience! He is only trying to settle a personal score. He was in business from 1970 to 2004. Wasnt he reading news papers. Wasnt he hearing radio. Wasnt he latest watching television. Wasnt he hearing discussions in public places. All the attrocities, corruption? Why didnt he think of fighting against injustice way back in 70s. Because he was a businessman, he needed to grease palms to grow, which he did till 2004; and then turned saint. Bullshit chugani.

Too early to pass judgment
by purna on Jul 23, 2007 09:50 AM  | Hide replies

It is too early. Either Haneef is innocent or very clever to hide his intents and footprints. When a witness is hostile or non-cooperative, the police may ask some leading questions or make accusations without proof. Australia has not so far suffered direct terror attacks, even though many australians were killed in Bali and Indonesia in a bomb attack. The media is over eager to show the australian authorities in bad light; Haneef has no future in australia or UK. Let us wait for the court hearing before issuing our/media judgment.

Dear Purna,
This is not only the first mistake from aus authority. Even Aus player have no manner (remember aus cricket players pushed one of our political leader from the stage while flipping their snaps). Would they do the same with Americans or any western citizens? Indians and Asians mean cheap people for them.

Haneef's is a special case involving terrorism; don't you realize the seriousness of the act and criminality of the people involved, even though the bombing was unsuccessful; we in India have faced islamic bombing and its consequences. Australians are brash, ill mannered and rude - there is no dispute over it.

Sangi,
All cricket lovers except NCP fellows knows that what the aussies did in pushing pawar was not intentional. second thing, politicians are not treated as celebrities in aus or in west. third, prices are given by celebrities; fourthly, celebrities dont engage in long winded bhashan in price giving ceremonies.

Our celebrity did not even know how to let the winning team savour the victory on their own.
