Posting such news will make others realize....
by Truth Teller on Jan 31, 2007 09:09 AM  | Hide replies

Posting such news in sites like Rediff, will make other young people realise. Nowadays lot many youngsters pose through webcam or have sex chat in Yahoo or MSN messengers. I am sure these news will scare them a bit and henceforth CHAT screens will be used literally for chat.

Bad Tactics
by V H on Jan 31, 2007 08:04 AM

This is really bad. FBI and NBC knows very well that they are targeting desis who are not aware of the law with respect to minors. I saw NBC Dateline and these guys looked nerdy and nice....except they were lured by someone promising sex. This is outrageous.

Have self respect
by Kavita Sundar on Jan 31, 2007 07:19 AM  | Hide replies

Why does Indian media creates such a fuss about such things? This is because Indians fear negative image in the eyes of foreigners. I do not know when Indians will think about doing things in a way that they themselves will respect. It is disgusting to read big articles about either Indians shining abroad or Indians committing this crime or that. I am residing abroad and I can tell that foreigners do not care a bit. Please let this "I want attention Mama" syndrome be over.

I agree with you Kavitha, some news on our sites are never meant to be news. As a society we are moving from values to value.

This is news .. but not new
by Moby on Jan 31, 2007 03:55 AM  | Hide replies

Similar thing had happened a couple of months back where a few Indians got caught in MSNBC net.
Lets face it guys, Indians are sex hungry.
This is what happens - Guys chat with lot of gals on the net, but only gals like these, who arent actually gals respond and show interest in sex .. n crazy guys fall prey to these tactics .. poor guys .. but stupid .. and bad ..
If a 13 or 14 yr old gal is asking for sex, why cant you ignore her ..
Dont give stupid reasons like if she is asking for it, then wats wrong in giving it ..
I dont care what the law is .. 13 or 14 yr old gals should not b having sex .. n if you are part of it in any way .. you are at fault and should be punished ..
Think .. wat if this 13 or 14 yr old happens to be your small sis or your daughter ..
would Kishor Patel approve of a 40 yr old having sex with her 13 yr old daughter, even if she is asking for it .. I am sure the ans is a big NO ..

even ur 5 yr old daughter/sis can operate computer/internet (even u can't), so do you think she can have sex with a 40 yr old guy.

There is no way u could control kids below 18yrs from accessing internet sites. They can fake their age. But its the adults' responsibility to check this. Having sex is not wrong, but having sex with teens is wrong, even if they are asking for it, cuz they don't know what they are askig for.

Not Sure Why This Is News
by Amrita B on Jan 31, 2007 03:30 AM

Although extremely unfortunate, not sure why this is news. Pedophilia among Indians is pretty common. Even though most people do not report it to the authorities, or want to acknowledge it and talk about it, it is still reported extensively in the Indian press.

Hopefully this will generate some positive discussion.

Teen aged etc
by Saddam H on Jan 31, 2007 03:14 AM  | Hide replies

I do not understand the logic. If teen age is willing why not? What is the problem?
What is bad is doing these things without consent (rape)
