RAVINDRA MALESHRI
Proud to be an Indian
by RAVINDRA MALESHRI on Feb 02, 2007 10:38 AM

I have been outside India since 1999. The changes our country has gone through is tremendous and commendable.
I pray to the misguided youth who have taken the path of violence to achieve so called Democracy through instigation of our enemies to come back and play a vital part to nurish the same country in which you were born. Going against the country is like raping a mother.

The two sides of, the Economy, coin
by on Feb 01, 2007 03:37 PM

The president's speeach is an inspiring and motivating one. Our country should be prosperous and strong amid the comity of nations. This comes out only when the hard work of our people channelled in unified manner. We are like actors on the stage where everybody has to perform his/her role to get a successful performance. It should be fulfilling for the audience and the actors.

In India, at present, the economy coin has two sides, on one side we see lot of scientific and technological, and economic growth is taking place and on the other and mass of our population is downtrodden. This is due to people who are fortunate enough to get access to educational system and business/trade where their incomes are far far more than daily labourers/farmers/petty hawkers.we have islands of prosperity and ocean of poverty. This contrast has to be seen in proper perspective for quick remidial action. Unless the mass is uplifted quickly in good quantum, our progress would be patchy. Hence, the corrective measures which are in position have to be upgraded and progress monitored very closely so as to get the expected results. The resources have to allocated in good quantum for ant-povery schemes and targetted to the correct people. The trickling down and percolation effect is not taking place in required quantity. We have world renounded Economists in India. we have to take their wisdom in devising the our policies, stratagies and delivery systems so as to have correct match between what is required and what is actually delivered in the field. It said by the great Tamil Poet and saint THIRUVALLUVAR in his THIRUKKURAL on poverty that:
" Every morning opens with the blighting thought of the struggle for existence that must again be faced ".
meaning--I managed to survive yesterday. Has another day begun and must I go through it again? These are the words of the unfortunate man to whom the new day means going through the dreaded trials of yeterday.

In essence, our masses' "hand to mouth exixtence" has to be completely eliminated and their standard of living and the quality of life has to be improved manifold.
This is a challenge for us as it was getting county's Independence. We believe that we would achieve this, but the question is how quick?

Media Media and Media
by Umesh Nagathan on Feb 01, 2007 10:23 AM

Dear Sir,
The first sentence that comes to my mind when I hear your name is "Here is our president. Person who is not a politician but a man with mission". Young INDIA is lucky and proud to see such person at President Position.

Mr. President, I have some thoughts to share. What presently young INDIA needs is information on developments in INDIA. When we read news papers we always read about negative accidents in INDIA mainly on corruption. We read about bad politicians, corrupted employees, sports men loosing games etc etc. Even what we watch in news channels is same with more effective and sometimes.

When any individual reads or watches such happenings, he or she feels that "No improvements can happen in INDIA. Just leave it". These kinds of publishing negative events makes young INDIA less proud. It makes them to look abroad for opportunities.

My personnel opinion is media should concentrate on positive growth that are happening in DREAM INDIA. INDIA is doing more than great in many areas. But such things are printed in side columns. Instead such events should be shown as "Head Lines". As of now none of the media (news paper or news channels) does it including our own national channel.

As we know that media plays a big part in the development of a country.
Just imagine how any INDIAN feels if he/she sees headlines like "INDIA LAUNCHED NEW SATELLITE,. INDIA SCIENTIST FOUND NEW LIGHT AIRCRAFT".

We feel very proud when we listen to your speech or read your articles. We feel happy when INDIA makes even small growth. Why it%u2019s not possible to publish similar articles every day with more color? Why can%u2019t such events be given more celebrity? Why there is no courage for such events.

What an INDIAN missing is a small ignition called motivation towards patriotism. I think media can do that in few timeline.

If media plays its role I think we can reach DEVELOPED INDIA in 2015 itself.
"Words are more effective than sword".

Thanks to Mr. President for your precious time.

Thanks to Rediff for providing a stage to publish the thoughts.

Indian,
Umesh

Our real Problem
by praveen raju on Jan 29, 2007 05:08 PM

Mr.President ,Thankyou for beginning with the positive note of 'India shining'.I fully agreed and absorbed your message on courage for implementation. What arrests our growth further as a nation to fully bloom is not physical, economical, visional and technological but MORAL.There is a lack of integrity ,accountability and commitment to our existing laws and constitution.

Mr. President, please also inspire our politicians..
by Ratnesh Sahay on Jan 29, 2007 04:00 AM  | Hide replies

All Presidents have given good messages to our countrymen and it is first time that we anxiously wait for your message. I have also read your book Ignited Minds. Do you also wish to give some message to our own politicians alongwith the countrymen about the issues of reservation, propagating casteism and doing politics of religion and of course corruption on top. If you go and find the fund spent on development projects in all the states, the reality would be that more than 50% percent of the government money is swindled. And that is visible in the lavish lifestyles of the government machinery.
One of the most important messages should be to our Beaurocrats who have mostly proved themselves as nothing more than useless in the last 60years. It is their responsibilty that city planning, cleanliness, health & hygeine, sanitation, the general outlook of the place and the living conditions within are ensured. No wonder whenever the International TV Channels show about Indian cities, nothing proper is visible. Our beaurocracy has gone berserk and they are only busy serving their personal interest.
Mr. President, your office takes control of these beaurocrats and why don't you make it mandatory for the beaurocrats to practice these strictly based on which, their career growth will depend.
I hope you will understand the importance of it. In todays world it is extremely imporatnt that our prentation is better. If we continue to do so, We will never gain that place which other countries are gaining fast. I will suggest to send them to China for a lesson.
Kind regards

no change can take place by formulating/enactig laws.these are there since last 100 yrs and more. Then solution!change at indivisual/family/social level.please imagine a situation-the parents take a decision that if their son/daughter take bribe,we would show them the door n the parents of girls decide that they would not marry their daughters to corrupt govt.officials.but,Alas,the situation is reverse.people are more affectionate to corrupt children/son-in-laws,and you talk of change.

Yes Nafasat khan i agree your points, the other issues india is facing is that politicians should stop the minorities appeasement policies and their minority vote bank policies. The educated muslims should educate other muslims about the ill-effects of such minority appeasement programs. Todays muslim population focussing on hating other religions and faiths instead of this muslims in india should focus on improving their living conditions.
