One thing is very clear whole world is controlled by whom .......GOD and GOD is where .......... in Himalayas. Our country may be in hand of foolish leaders. but its is protected by Military .I am tired to write every time. Pl do not forget Gr8 rishis in himalayas are still cotrolling our country and they keep watch . I read articles that in 1962 when there was war between both countries group of Rishis have done Hawan and immed interfere and stopped damage from our side. today also there are Ancient rishis and we should not bother.

This guy is one stupid , arrogant liability of India. Only thing he can do is to damage India. I am an Indian living in California. Chinese are bigger enemies than even pakis. A typical pakistani DOES NOT hate India, but a typical chinese is ALWAYS full of venom against India. If it is upto China, they will destroy India. This stupid communist still lives in 1950s era that gave us 1962. We are in a war like cold war, but the bitter and difficult one. Either we can win or loose. There is no midway and you don't talk about peace in war.

The Chinese Connection
by ravi prakash on Jan 20, 2007 02:30 PM

It is important to highlight the differences in the approaches when interacting with the Chinese.
Was it not in India that the Buddha preached his philosophy and the Chinese adopted it. We have made the Buddha a God but the Chinese follow his teachings in particular to setting one's goals and attaining them with utmost patience. If a goal demands walking a large number of steps then one has to go along on those, no matter how far or how long it may take.
The Chinese do not lose sight of their goal but we begin to lose our directions, willing to concede, changing our goals and get impatient in the process. We end-up getting nowhere but move further away from our goal.
We are keen to resolve our border dispute. We ended up ceding more territory to the Chinese.
We provided an asylum to the Dalai Lama on humanitarian basis but did not take up the issue with the Chinese on the Tibetan border, we ended up with the Tibetan influx into India and even allowed a Tibetan Govt in Exile but we have not mustered courage to confront the Chinese nor take it to the world body inspite of being the affected party.
We did not hesitate to take military action when Bangladeshi refugees flooded India.
Why then do we accede to any overtures of China in the name of peace and friendship.
Our engagements with China smacks of fuzzy thinking and lack of clearly defined goals.
We are easy meat for the Chinese, they can do anything, reduce our space for negotiation and at will deny us the peace that we sorely need at their time and place of choosing.

Mr. Narayanan, dont underestimate Indians
by murugesh venkat on Jan 20, 2007 02:04 AM

The claims made by China are irrelevant. Indians could claim Tibet and say China controls most of the disputed territory. Mr. Narayanan seems to underestimate Indians' intelligence and sense of history. He's still living in the 50's when beauracrats where 'supposed' to be smartest around. India is a democracry unlike China and media/people are more important than Mr.Narayanan.

The fact that one country makes claims is irrelevant. India can put a claim to Tibet and say china has more disputed territoy under its control. Mr. Narayanan underestimates the intelligence of Indians. probably hes still living in the 50's when beauracrats where 'supposed' to me the smartest people around.

Vinayak Patil
Dont underestimate CHINI
by Vinayak Patil on Jan 19, 2007 06:05 PM

Mr. Narayanan should remember history. The way chinese refuse to accept agreement about Tibet and attacked India shows they real blood. When time comes their top policy makers even refuse to accept agreement signed by their former policy makers.
What's guarantee that any settled issue they will honour in long term? Their future policy makers can easily refuse to accept any settlement done by current policy makers.
Don't underestimate them.

Nice article. It would be good if rediff gave a function/option to subscribe to future articles by e-mail alerts or something. As often, with busy work days we can easily miss the next part of a 2/3/4/5 part interviews.
