You may not have no confrontation with China.
by chanakya maurya on Jan 19, 2007 04:35 PM

But the Chini is just pressing the barrel on our forehead in a bullying fashion.

What about that Mr. Narayanan ?

Living in a fools' heaven could cost us colossally.

So dont be under any false impression.

And keep the nation informed.

Be a good boy.

What about Aksai Chin?? Aye??
by Mihir on Jan 19, 2007 01:53 PM

Mr. Narayanan,

You say that that we are in possession of most of the territory claimed by the chinese. Arent you forgetting something. Or, are you to, like most of our leadership scared of the chinese.

What about the Aksai Chin Region(38000 Sq Kms of territory). And what about the Shaksgam valley in north of ladakh ceded to China by Pakistan in 1963. Why are we scared to claimed that region as our integral part. Or have we given up and accepted it as a part of China. Why are we negotiating with them on arunachal in the first place. Why cant a single leader make a strong statement.

History repeats itself as Indians repeat making same Mistakes again n again !!!
by saikat kar on Jan 19, 2007 12:54 PM

Hello Sir,

At the onset,I must congratulate rediff for publishing so many useful articles. These are priceless. Good job.

Coming to the Chinese issue...with all due respect to Mr. Narayanan i must say Indian leadership is in the hands of people who are myopic, immature, lacks courage and shrewedness.

one weapon can't be used for all purpose. Gandhigiri certainly won't resolve all problems.
We are suffering coz of the immature leadership of the past. And will suffer the same in future unless.....

China has a big ambition of land grabbing and making herself a superpower. its playing its cards wisely. its alienating our neighbours-Sri lanka, Mayanmar, Nepal,Bhutan, bangladesh n Pakistan so that we lose our standing/support in international podium. Secondly we will keep busy wasting our energy in sorting problems with these countries. china has advanced its base to cocoa island in bay of bengal and has build its base in Mayanmar so that it can extend its reach to bay of bengal and indian ocean and lay claim on the reach resources of the ocean. Hats off to the chinese think tank and leadership!!!

China has ensured that India remain engaged in tackling Terrorist activities in North, East and now to every nook and corner of india and weaken herself while china prospers.

In all international affairs china has always opposed India. We had supported China in UNO to make china a permanent member but when we are seeking support for the same china is the biggest opponent ! China is providing All kinds of logistic, technology and moral support to pakistan which is quite open now.No proof required. Pakistan's nuclear technology thrives on chinese support. Pakistan is not mature enough to understand that its always better to stand on your own legs or it will have to pay the price for it as its doing for US. today china is giving to pakistan tomorrow it will take things back with 10 times the interest and there wuld be no escape route.

Solution: Learned people of India should get into politics, have to come out of the comfort of home/job security if we want a safe, secure future for us and generation to come. Either you drive or somebody else will drive you into.........

M.K. Narayanan is a very enlightened person. China is very important to us now. It is prudent to improve relations than to approach with confrontation attitude.

CHINA FACTOR

We are not suppose to trust either pakistan or china, what ever borders are now we have to maintain in same condition and move forword in economic front,if we change border , it will open our wound and it will bring more problems than solution, this time we need to maintain enough fire power even if required Neuclear weapons and finally we don't want "indian occupied arunachal pradesh",:-))

Unbecoming of a diplomat
by Naresh Bharadwaj on Jan 19, 2007 11:38 AM

Its Mr. Narayanan's duty to dispel the ignorance. Raising of his voice and calling the interviewer ignorant just shows how helpless he is. How can we feel comfortable if our international affairs and other important matters are handled by such a person?

I could remember a aricles about two chinese taking about Indians, "Indian speak for days and months, but chinese does it stright away". A known enemy(Pakistan) is bettet than Unknown friend(China). Do we have any war doctrine about Chine?. If the tanks of China moves inside Arunachal, Do we have any plan to inflict greater demage to China?. This govenment seems that (from the saying of SA) ready to hand over a piece of land in Aruchal pradesh to bye peace. China wants everything Our Northeast states, Nepal, Tebit, Taiwan, japan magoloa and part of Russia. Beware!!!!
