The last time I had an oportunity to see Chandra's performance was in 1998-99( I don't remember the name. it was in Chennai Music academy). It was about Gay relationships. The theme was also using fire and body as an extensive symbol of life and knowledge. The sensual part of life, body, beauty can't be neglected in her works.
Death is not an end.

chandra as i remember her
by vatsala menon on Jan 06, 2007 10:52 AM

though chandra believed family connections are a burden and friendships are the permanent things, i have considered her as one of my family.i am not that wellversed to claim the intricacies of her dance creations,i am one who have seen her from very near and experienced the powerful persona that she was.she was always encouraging and instructive in facing the problems one faced and life became standstil and one had lost all hope.her personal charisma and energy she transmitted were rejuvenating to one and all.i remember how she coaxed me to travel and write as she could recognise the hidden talent in me.may b i will do that as a homage to her.when i went to see her in those last weeks i couldnot controll my tears ,seeing the body which defied her soul.strength ,vitality, zest for life all betrayed by the disease.chandra u r always with me and a lot to remember about the times we have spent with u and my brother sadan in chennai,in trichur and in the remote village Thottipal in Kerala.Bye chandra
