Widow remarriage and fair deal was promoted by Raja Ram mohan Roy and British, Missionaries, Royalty encouraged and administered such reforms. None else can take credit for the social reforms and welfare of downtrodden in such humanitarian terms.
It is not religions but the commitment of the rulers and administrators of that day.
A spark neglected can burn the house. Now days are over for Communist in WB. We all educated WB people want a change for some progressive government who can reindustrialize it again & free it from the cluches of rude communist.
Whatever said and done... The rediff forums made one man from nothing to a very famous one.. Mr Sahadevan KK. All others fight , scream , swear etc etc .. But this guy just walks in, types what he wants to tell , vanishes and became famous ....
All these intelectuals must have earned enough. Why not they raise some fund of their personal contribution and give some compensation to the victims. That will be of better use than this simple protest. What they are doing will cut well as news. But this doesn't help the victims at all.

I entirely support calls made by great people in Kolkata for return of Tasleema to Kolkata. Her life must be secured & she could be a big asset to WB's great culture.
In the name of secularism, CPI(M) government has fecilitated M.F. Hussain in Kerala for portraying nude Hindu goddess. But when Taslima Nasreen describes atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and faces wrath of Muslim fanatics,she has forced to leave Kolkata for Muslim appeasement!!! Shame, shame CPI(M)

At Election time, in West Bengal only the CPI-M quickens their pulse.
CPI-M, unreformed or reformed, has wiily-nilly grabbed the mass majority of the Bondhus by their family jewels.
Now wait a while patiently to see if this political process started by la Swajan would reorient them or for that matter, any other political parties that potter about in their godforsaken Bondhu State.
India is a Secular and a Democratic country and we respect all religions as equal. Taslima did not do any disrespect to any religion and the FATWA issued against her by some relgious groups is unwanted and uncalled for. She is not a criminal and no cases is pending at any court of her country as well as in any international courts and hence, if she desires to get INDIAN CITIZENSHIP, India Govt. should give her so that she can create MORE AND MORE GOOD BOOKS and NOVELS for the benefit and upliftment of downtrodden.
