Those who criticize the wording of a song in which MOCHI word has been used against SUNAR
,it appears have empty tops. This is not a derogatory expression and nothing to do with good or bad. It is simply a matter of precision which the writer had compared. A mochi strikes nails and repairs shoes do his work with heavy hand on leather on the anvil while a SUNAR has to do work with pricize tools and work on Metals including Gold to make ornaments.
This all hue and cry is nothing but a cheap publicity stunt.

Ok I am empty tops. There you go buddy!!

Now let me tell you which has happened to me. The guy did not knew that I belong to BC and he is talking about some other couple, where to make his point he says wife is beautiful and the husband looks BC.

Now you tell me is there anything wrong in calling me BC. NO. But obviously some of your friends don't think so. To them it is a word which can be used in derogatory sense.

The point made someone here is that someone is trying to say "Hey mochi, stay in your caste and don't try to become sunar", implicitly saying sunar is better then mochi. I would not have any qualms if you call a mochi, mochi but to say that in sneering and almost insidious way is what we are talking about.

Rest said we are all just freakin human beings. Its the religion caste color money that has divided us, and whether it is mayawati or modi, sonia or lalu, bush or bin laden, we are just playing in their games. Ultimately we the people are going to be losers not them. Do you want to play in their hands? The help is joining the nation and not dividing.

DALITS are in a far worse condition in Pakistan, Bangladesh, what you have to say about that?

Caste system is existing even among Indian Christians. Perhaps you may not know but Japan had its own caste system (AINUS).

The problem is not with one religion, because we find around India, there are many countries following other religions which are even in worser shape than India.

Education and economic growth is what our society needs, not fault finding.

IT IS NOT THE WORD-mochi- IT IS THE WORD-bhee-THAT ASCRIBED MEANNESS TO THE WORD mochi
by Kabeer on Dec 02, 2007 12:24 AM  | Hide replies

It is not the word MOCHI, it is the word BHEE that ascribed meanness of stature to the word MOCHI. MISHRA wrote MOCHI bhee KHUD KO SUNAR which suggests meanness to the word MOCHI which certainly is objectionable.

Mishra doesnot morally defenseless in this matter. Honourable way to accept the mistake and delete those lines with immediate effect and offer regrets.

How the caste system hurts crorers of Indians
by Kumar on Dec 01, 2007 11:51 PM  | Hide replies

The caste/'profession' gets defined by birth and worst still since India does not have the concept of dignity of labor, certain professions got labelled as extremely lower category. People who were born into families practicing these professions were then forced to lead a life full of insults, humilition, fear, opression and torture. If they were talented in other areas (more cushy professions) then opportunities were stolen from them, unjustly, causing mental anguish, pain and emotional truma not to forget extreme poverty. Haven't you read about the story of Eklayva from Mahabharata? It's a shamelful event and Guru Drona must have been a first class racist who would have put Hitler to shame.

ANyway read mahabharata and you will know how Drona died in the battlefield. And he died fighting against his own favourite disciple right?

That is the message of Hindu epics, you get punished for your misdeeds. I think you dint catch the message..

Now even when someone from the lower caste gets into a better profession or business (like Dr. Ambedkar did) the people from upper caste having bigoted mindset cannot tolerate this.
Very strangely, instead of feeling joys that fellow citizens are getting out of poverty and misery, these bigoted individual continue to taunt, hurt and insult even innocent people. When the bigots do these evil acts, not once do they considor how wrong and unjust their acts are. Why? Becuase bigotry and racism have made them like animals, feeling no compassion, empathy and having no lack of justice. They cry about the Mughal atrocities on Hindus but show no sensitivity to their own atrocities of many more native Indians. Shame!

This piyush mishra does not represent crores of other upper castes of present day India of 2007... just as one dawood ibrahim does not represent millions of Indian muslims.

Try to understand the fact that you cannot generalise a entire population based on acts of some individuals. Hitler used to do that and you know the end result right?

IF only it was merit in rise of professions. The realty is gross incompetent people keep on rising till retirements in coveted jobs setting poor standards of in work culture discipline and organisational structure, dalit entering a lowest ladder with low level of qualifications keeps rising bypassin everyone else till he has got to retire ,by that time he is much more equal among equals and owns property and assets unimagined in his or any non dalits lifetime .God Bless caseism.Same is even more true for so called backward classes.

These guys have an utter lack of empathy, compassion and sensitivity. God's chosen people? Well, this concept was invented in the middle east so you know from which country the people claiming to be 'God's chosen people' migrated from.

WHY DONT YOU SAY SORRY MR. MISHRA..
by MGR Fan on Dec 01, 2007 11:16 PM  | Hide replies

The problem is that this guy (Mishra) is a bramin and because of this idiot, the normal common man of this caste will be condemned and get more bad name.

My question is why you idiot (Mishra) should put other millions of other forward castes in trouble, these are the millions of normal people who dont discriminate dalits, why should we get blamed for what you did? Better you apologise, anyway we dont need any songs.
