Utter nonsence, this man B.Raman knows nothing about politics and religion and is writing about Punjab Problem. Sant Bhindranwale was a great saint. He was a man in love with sikhi. He was exclusively dedicated to the preachings of sikhism in Punjab. AND the Indira Gandhi whose popularity was declining day by day in India, created phobia of Sant ji and attacked 40 gurdwara's in Punjab on the Martydom Day of Guru Arjan Dev where thousand's of devotees were gathered to celebrate the Martydom Day. Unfortunatley the idea and action of Indira Clicked. She made Hindus happy and in Dec.84 elections, cong got the record majority. Anti Sant Bhindranwale media campaign lauched by Indian press and electronic media has projected him in a villian, which is not true. These people like P. Mohan don't know the atrocities of KPGILL, Gobind Ram, Rebiero and Indian Army but write a lot about Bhindrawale without anyh proof and substance.

Okay, if thats the case why were there no atrocities on Sikhs before bhindrawala? This article is one of the very few which shed light on the real truth. Bhindrawala was created not self made. By himself he was nothing more than a semi-literate simple sikhism loving sikh. Indira was the one who took this man and made him big. And he got out of control. I have attended his speeches. Earlier he was a very simple fellow, but gradually his speeches became full of hatred and anger. Congress got majority in dec 84 elections just because hindus outside punjab didnt know about her deeds.

I have first hand experience of both sides of the coin. Killings of many close hindu and sikh friends. So please refer to the real facts. I know there is not much info available about bhindrwala before 1981 but if you do a good research you will find some surprising facts
Saint Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale is the gratest sikh leader of the 21st Century,
They were arrested 6 months before the attack on the golden temple and RELEASED without charge due to baseless accusations,
The storming of the Golden temple by the army was a scapegoat for the congress as at the time it was rock bottom and needed a scapegoat to secure votes,
What bhindranwale was asking for was Amritsar to have holy city status, Punjabi to be state language of Punjab, and those bent officials who raped to be put to justice - tell me waht is wrong with any of these points???

No bias I suppose. The issue is not Indira Gandhi's assasination and anti-Sikh riots. The issue has been mentioned only to draw a parallel between incidents related to Bhindranwale then in India and the Ghazi brothers now in Pakistan.
BTW, the comment to the article is biased in its own way. The mention and denouncement of 1984 anti-Sikh riots should be preceded by an equal, if not more severe denouncement of Bhindranwale and his aides who occupied the holy Golden Temple, kept women hostage ... without their clothes and spread terrorism ... why the bias of forgeting it?
B Raman has served RAW for a long time and has held key posts in the government. Please look upon his articles as insights into incidents rather than looking at them as written by some political ideologue !

So long as Pakistan is not democratically ruled, they will perish on thier own accord through internal strifes, sectarian violence, corruption and islamic extremism. There is no need for external influence to alter thier course if the present trend continues..
