AI needs a major overhaul..
by Superman aka who last crashed into a tree on Apr 09, 2007 07:45 PM

AI and IA both deserve to close down. I don't really care if the air hostess is 40 yrs old, but I do expect her to serve with a smile, and not as if she "has to".

I do expect to get a blanket on AI on a 18 hour flight, and not get responses like "We only have limited blankets" !

IA's Boeing fleet is competing with the MIG21s... which one falls first !
Unfortunately the MIGs seat 1, but the 737s seat in hundreds !

Air India service and their planes both to be kept in Musueem
by kumar jagtiani on Apr 09, 2007 02:01 PM

I travelled twice with Air India on long routes and I have now taken a oath that I shall never fly with them again even BOM/DELHI sector. Firstly their Lady hostesses are very rude and ugly looking, its bcoz of their age, I kept quiet else cud have abused them royally. Now talking about Air crafts both the times, the toilet were in a horrible state, my God so many mosquitos, jesus christ and look at them, whenever they land into India from abroad they spray some chemical, can someone tell them that these mosquito are carried by Air india when they start their journey from India. HOPELESS, HORRIBLE, PLS PLS PLS FOR GODS SAKE, keep some presentable crew.

Privatisation is only the mantra to regain the last glory of Air India
by srinivasa rao on Apr 09, 2007 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

Apart from ageing fleet, too much interference from Civil Aviation Ministry, lack of 'sense of belonging' to the Organisation by the pampered and most indisciplined staff have tarnished the image of Maharaja. To refurbish its tainted image and to ensure world class services by emulating the shining example like "Singapore Airlines", it is high time that it is to be privatised and handed over to the erstwhile owners TATAs to run it on profitable lines.

I agree. Also, we need not look so far as the Singapore Airlines example. We have many privatized airlines like Jet who are kicking AI's butt across the runway. The only reason AI is still in business is because they use their government connections to supress private airlines by instituting moronic laws.

Jet has finally got the permission to start flying the US sector. Let us see how AI stays in business now.

MOST THIRD CLASS SERVICE - PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER TRAVEL BY AI
by ravi K on Apr 09, 2007 12:47 PM  | Hide replies

REALLY such type of things are possible with Air India only, even I also travelled once with AI and since then decided never to fly with MOST THIRD CLASS AIR SERVICES OF THE WORLD.

All these people (AI staff)they are playing with the life of public, why such things are not checked before hand properly so that at least passangers will fly safely.

My flight also got delayed for 20 hrs due to technical snag, really surprisng.

These tech snags are never faced in other coutries carriers????????

AIR INDIA must retire all those Cabin Crew members specially old ladies, they are arrogant and act as if they own AIR INDIA and passengers are on their mercy. Often ground crews at the ticket counters also have attitude. Lallo P Yadav is not the answer to the problem. He will invest all income from AI, for building a new Internatiuonal Airport at his home village as he is doing for railway trains diverting to his village.
AI should be taken over by Dr Vijaya Mallaya, Kingfisher Airlines.

Aircraft gets bogged down

Air India may have to employ Lalu Yadav to repair their reputation.

They fix the fare price to desitnations in India and foreign airlines must follow the range though they can fly for much less than that is stipulated by Air India. One will wonder what Air India is doing with the funds if they can't use well-maintained aircrafts to be least if not change the old planes.

Their flight schedules are not followed, there are frequent delays and cancellation of flights. Dubai Airport has already banned old planes because of incidents such as this - I'm sure Air India/Indian Airlines is one of the airlines given such a deadline.

Airline business is very tricky.

It is difficult to maintain the old fleet and staff.

With a smart, intelligent head of the organization anything is possible. If their staff will get salary whether or not he does his duty satisfactorily and no heed is given to customers' complaints, someday Air India/Indian Airlines will only giving salary to their staff with no income.

Their only income will be the charges collected at the airport/s for they being used by other airlines.

The main runway of the Indira Gandhi International airport was still closed when reports last came. However, the second runway was operational.
by chanakya maurya on Apr 09, 2007 11:16 AM  | Hide replies

The matter should be thoroughly investigated embracing all aspects.

After all it involves human lives besides crippling of an important international airport of the nation.

Our hotaa hai chalta hai attitude must cease if we want to shake hands with the global community with our heads high.

First of all Indian lives are cheap. Government do not bother about their citizens.

Air India fleet is very old. It has become a white elephant for Government.
