Don't show mercy
by V.S.Chakravarthy on Sep 30, 2006 10:17 AM

Afjal should be hanged till death. Such traders of death should not be shown any mercy. With the kind of laws, The incompetent and politically motivated law agencies, it is as such rare that any terrorists get caught and after such long drawn judicial scutiny are awarded punishments. Now they cannot be let out on clemency. If that be so then why all this farce and spending huge amounts of tax payers money. The Left and the Congres can proclaim that no body will be punished commensurately to their offence and let them decide what is the punishment which may ensure that they continue to get the votes of muslims while innocents are killed in cold blood by these terrorists.
This event again shows how much respect our PM carries amongst his own party men and ministers and CM's that they make such sort of demands and come out in public as if it is not their sovereign duty to uphold the rule of law and the problem of governing this country is not theirs but the PM's alone while they continue to behave the way they want to. Shame... Shame.
I beg our Hon'ble President to throw away any request from this weak government for clemency. Afjal should be hanged on appointed day.

OUr dear politicians,
kindly stop behaving alike terrorists yourselves. you wish to apparently show mercy (for vote polictics of course, nothing else) to someone who has attacked our indian parliament, then, what would you do with dawood ibrahim whom you wish apparently to be handed over to us by the pakistanis. i think you would make him a minister (like several of you who are already having similar background)

Afzal's hanging and clemency plea by Congress & Left
by S.Ramaswamy on Sep 30, 2006 07:03 AM

Mr Gulam Nabi Azad, his party and their allies, the Left parties are out of their mind in demanding clemency for Afzalk. They even deserve to be called traitors and hanged.
Afzl is no common criminal. He and his group had waged war against the country. But for the sacrifice of a few alert security persons those who are demanding clemency now would not have been even But when they are caught they manage to escape either through corruption or through inept handling of the case i the courts. If the terrorist passes through all these escape routes and the police manage to get conviction, the vile politicians try to nullify the gain
Did Afzal or his group show any mercy while killing hundreds of people? His mother who is said to be seeking Prsidential pardon ever think of the mothers whose children were mercilessly butchered by her son and his cohorts?
If the whole judicial exercise is to be rendered nought why waste the time of one and all by going through such expensive and time-consuming trials? To solve the unemployment among the judicial officers? The Congress fools no one by trying to distance itself from Mr Azad

Afzal, Parliament attach, Death Sentence and Mercy
by Vaman Kamath on Sep 30, 2006 06:25 AM

If the incident of parliament attack had taken place in Saudi Arabia what would the govt. at that place do? Kill Mr. Afzal through stone throwing in the public. Will a single community men from his group raise their voice, forget about Mr. Azad the CM of J & K seeking mercy!
Why so much big issue is taking place in India only? It is because we as a nation are soft and pliant. We need to be like Israelis in case we want to face the challenge. We also know that National father, Mr. Gandhi had stated that: EYE FOR AN EYE MAKES ALL BLIND. But there is also an old saying: SAMA, DHANAM, BEDAM, DHANDA!.
Use in this case the last resort as Mr. Afzal will not change after giving mercy as there is a deep rooted thinking to create violence and chaos and live in stone age by these groups!
We should not forget about the incident of release of another terror devil in the Indian Airlines hijack case in Afghanisatan.
Regards,
A.V.Kamath

Cms plea........
by A.khan on Sep 30, 2006 06:10 AM  | Hide replies

Hi,Mohammed Afzal should not be given a pardon as it will send wrong signal. He has been found guilty by the court and i think it was a fair trial.Bjp should stop playing political games as the attack on parliment took place when bjp was ruling in centre,so they were also equally responsible for it.they cannot shrug off by saying that congress govt is soft on terror.

mr khan i appreciat that you support the court,s decission but how can you say "i think it was a fair trial"...surely it was fair trial ..it had been decided by hon. supreme court,s bench. and Bjp is not playing any game only the congress is playing the game by sending a mercy plea for the terrorist.....and you know well about this!!!

Call for clemency lacks logic
by Subha Narayan on Sep 30, 2006 02:19 AM

Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad seems to lack even basic nationalistic feelings. Otherwise how else can you explain his totally "irrtaional" call for clemency and pardon for Mohd Afzal. Here you have a group of people who have abetted and carried out a terror attack on the very symbol of your democracy and you in order to cling on to your "gaddi" are ready to go to any extent. I think the punishment should have been meted out at the earliest in orer to send a strong message to terrorist forces and to the so called sympathisers of terrorists.
