Forbes appears to judge women more by glamour attached to the position held rather than "power" wielded by them. The power wielded by Indra Nooyi and other corporate women is money power and they should be judged in a different context. To mix their comparison with that of women in public life is like comparing apples and oranges.
So far as women in public life is concerned, Condolezza Rice and the Vice President of China are really bureaucrats who can be dismissed by their respective bosses any time, without any whimper even in domestic politics. Comparison of Angela Merkel and Sonia Gandhi is more valid. But Merkel was the consensus candidate for her job in the wake of indecisive election in Germany. She did not lead her coalition to victory. Sonia Gandhi on the other hand built an intricate coalition to lead Congress from humiliationg defeat in 1999 to a surprise victory in 2004 in the face of poll predictions of a decisive victory for opposing coalition and overcoming her handicap of being foreign born which her opponents tried to exploit in full. So between Sonia and Merkel who is more powerful? Some Indian readers may not like Sonia, but they cannot deny these facts.
sonia is indeed the heart of india. in an power hungry country she has shown that she can kick the seat and even become powerful enough to rule the one-sixth people of the planet. she is indeed a lady of true spirit with caring of her children and indians. she is away from any unwanted news and concentrating on her work only
yeah i fully agreed about this issue that sonia is not only a powerful politician, she is a good towards poor peoples. in my opinion she should in 1st place.
