Just another in a long list of police incompetence, indifference, unprofessionalism and mind-boggling stupidity - did the cops even take the trouble to 'verify' that the corpse actually matched the picture on the 'passport'. Here's the major problem in Identification verification in India - there's no compulsory registration of births, marraiages or deaths, and as such, there is no database of its citizens and no way to proprerly identify anyone, especially with the stupid buffoons aka cops so willing to take short-cuts.
