i request govt officials to provide updated information that how much water from ukai dam is still to be released so that people can be conveyed and they can take safety measures or preapared for condition.
We should pray for people of Surat who are going tgrough one of the most difficult times of their lives.
I had the opportunity of living in Surat between 1999 and 2003. I am sure people of Surat who are known for their zeal and enterprise will definitely overcome this tragedy very soon.
This is called double wastage process or creating proverty every year.
In rainy months there are floods in India, in summer there is a drought!
I dont want to say how much water can contribute (both ways) to India's economy.
We need a strong water management system through Canals and artificial rivers- channel additional unwanted fresh waters to drought hit areas, now there is enough of water in india but no political leadership to spearhead the great Indian Saga from our very own Jai Jawan Jai Kisan point of view.

can anyone please et me know how much water more to be released from ukai dam? condition is becoming worse and i m not able to contact residenta in dumbhal region of surat.
Dears, It is great unfortunate situation of excess over flooding of the river tapti thtrough release of water from Ukai dam.This could have been avoided if the water from the dam planned to be released earlier. It is not under stood why the same could not be planned inspite of the fact that dams are costructed not only for storage of water but also for controll of floods .There appears to be a great miscommunication in the operating system of the management responsible for Release of water. A high power commitee with representatives from Center,States and Meterological department and experts requires to be constituted to controll the water release from all the dams of the country in a close coodination and to suggest other usefull alternatives for use of water resources .The commitee to function under the relevant ministry at the center with special attention of the Prime Minister.

As per rediff news updated August 09, 2006 18:10 IST. The inflow into the Ukai has reduced to 7.5 lakh cusecs per second on Wednesday,hope that this is will help people who are suffering. I have my family and relatives are there ....

no one would care, you have to take care of yourself, you have to show lots of money in bank account if you dont have funding in your i-20 , with such a poor knowledge or yours, you might be rejected in visa as a potential migrant
