I think when disaster anywhere in the world we should help the needy. Irespective of caste, religion or Country. All are human beings we have to respect that.

I am surprised to see flimsy articles like this when the BBC reports that an Indian girl committed suicide in Calcutta as her mother couldn't afford to give her Re.1 for some rice.

1. Why's that not figuring in the news at Rediff.com?
2. What are charitable institutions like the
Missionaries of Charity doing in Calcutta, if
after so many years and millions of dollars things
still remain the same?

Please donot publish rubbish about India being a
super power. India is not going to be a developed
country unless people stop dying due to starvation.

These messages or nothing to do with super power. It is about humanity.

If you come to know anything of the kind you have written about what happened in calcutta, we who come to know about it have to come forward in helping them & not wait for charitable trust to do the work & we just laugh at them.

When it comes to humanity the Indians are great, we forget the cast, religion & country.

Shame!!!

Would be really happy if you could have spent more time and energu on showcasing efforts made for Indian tragedies rather than Katrina. While I understand that Katrina was also a tragedy, why so much focus... god, cant we Indians ever get rid of the American baggage... Such a bloddy shame.
