It is an article which needs to be read over and over again. Sadly it reminds me of my grandfather, who lost his life in the WWII at Burma, even before the war could officially commence. A haunting reminder for all.
US killed lacs of people in Hiroshima & Nagashaki. Stalin killed millions of his country men who opposed his ideology. Jews are still killing Arabs in west Asia. But their misdeeds are not high lighted. Only blaming Hitler is a one sided affiar. History needs re-writing to blame all in the same breath. Please keep writing on WW-II from all perspectives and let the new generation know the real culprits.
I am really thankful to you for writing such a good article on world war 2. I have been always looking for information on world war and finally I got it in your article. You have provided some real good links on wrold war. So in total it was a great effort.
Approximately 3 million Indians, most of them volunteers, fought in World War II, in every theatre. They were much admired by others. Indian airman, jawans and sailors, plus thousands of medical professionals, and intelligence workers, are remembered by former service people, around the world. The Indian 4th Army frightened Rommel in North Africa; Indians were beloved by Canadians and others in Italy; they suffered terribly in the War in the Asia; some regiments are remembered for a fine performance in Burma, Malaysia and beyond. It is disgraceful that so few Indians are aware of this chapter in the history of India that seems more familiar to non-Indians. Oh yes, more than one Indian died in a concentration camp.. the Gestapo sent the SOE agent, Noor Inayat Khan, to be beaten to death, after weeks of torture, never divulging a syllable. Read your history, boycott the film concerning the traitor from Bengal. Speak to your thousands of surviving Veterans and remember Gandhi\'s pronouncement that it would be immoral not to help in the war to defeat Germany and the Japanese. If Bose is your hero, you are a poor Indian, indeed! Instead, study, and you will be most proud.
Nice article. I wish you would have studied the role of the Indian Army in WWII. I have heard that the INDIAN army fought bravely. Unfortunately, we have become so much seduced to Western world that we undermine our own people's sacrifice for the cause.
