Is only Aiyar working?
by Gaurav on Jun 26, 2005 12:30 AM

Kudos to Aiyar! Last week, MS Aiyar was in Iran for the Iran-India pipeline project. After he returned, he was heard commenting on the disinvestment issue. Then he was heard talking about extending the pipeline to China. Now, he is busy with RBH concept! I hope the others in the UPA learn from this man and do something equally beneficial to the nation rather than promoting their dolls and passing comments on the BJP's and RSS's communalist ideology. My vote's to the UPA if they function, atleast from now, as efficiently as the NDA did, with its roadways, diplomatic ties, river interlinking, and empowerment issues, in its 5 years.

RBH for full ownership among villagers and self-reliance

Aiyars project, Rural Business Hubs, which will aim to eradicate rural poverty and create employment opportunities in rural India, is fascinating. In as much as it is meant to create a large scope for employment and business opportunities in the rural areas using rural talents and expertise, involving community participation and creating need in local areas for businesses, it is a remarkable venture in empowering the people. If and when successful, it will relieve the urban areas of some of the pressures arising from their mounting needs for social and public service needs and spread the productive activities across the country. It will also build self-confidence in the rural communities and improve their innovative skills.

According to Aiyar, " The project is not social service. It's business". We sincerely hope that adequate safeguards will be incorporated in the organizational set-up that is envisioned for the RBH to realize that aspiration, because the proposed "Total Village Management" has the opportunities for misuse by politicians.

Real India lies in the villages...well, its taken so much time for our politicians to think of that...but better late than never...i am only worried about the effective implementation of this project...we need leaders at every level to utilise the resources available both human and natural in the villages....wishing for this schemes success and thanks manishankar iyer and whoever thought of this.
