Indian Military prowess
by Jatinder on Jan 26, 2005 06:25 PM

What good is all this military prowess when:-
1) Our political leadership makes our forces stand on our borders for 10 months doing absolutely NOTHINGGG!!!!!...and then order them to go back to barracks as if though nothing ever happened!!!!!

2) The promises like free and compulsory education(which consituted the first five year plan after independence) still remain largely unfulfilled??

3)Remote places still don't have very basic things like electricity and water.

Proud of You Mother
by chandramohan on Jan 26, 2005 03:40 PM

Reading about the RD parade from rediff is as if witnessing the parade as such. That too the unique culture that India possess, Unity in diversity displayed by children of my mother country on this great day requires crores of eyes. The Indians in Taiwan today complimented each other this day with sweets and exchanging greetings. Where ever we are mother, this day is the real day of our celebrations. I am Proud of being an Indian and proud of you mother country.

gallantry awards
by krishna prasad on Jan 26, 2005 03:13 PM

the three highest gallantry awards were stated to be:"param veer chakra, ashok chakra, victoria cross"
the first 2 names are fine...but the last one sounds like a name that has its roots in the pre-independance era. why cant the name be changed to something more "truly indian"?? or may be, iam ignorant of its significance...do elucidate..
