Shame on India.
by Pratyush Paul on Dec 13, 2005 09:34 AM

Hey Guys,

This guy is not an Indian, he is an American. He does not do anything for the Indian community. He was Piyush Jindal, converted to Christianity with Bobby Jindal. He does not even bother to debate anything in congress for something which impacts the Indians in US, why we have to take pride in recongnizing him. The blacks in New Orleans never voted him, they voted for Blanco, as he did not stick to his religion, he disgraced Hindus to get his PR in the US. I was shocked to hear the news, again bu** kissing is part of our culture. Shame on the people who are stupid, shame on the media who publish all these crap. Again if you have to appease the US goverment, do something else, instead of doing something so insane and stupid.

I am sick of these idiots and crazy media people, when these people would be using their rusted brains.

Regards

Pratyush Paul

A wrong person for an award
by nb on Dec 13, 2005 09:13 AM

What are his contributions to India? All he did was for himself. No big deal.
This fellow also changed his religion to be in politics! Became a catholic!! Why should Indians award people like him? Maybe, he should get a best "converted catholic" award.
Also, I do not think IA recognition is also a big deal, anyways.
NB.

Have we gone mad ?
by Vineet Sharma on Dec 13, 2005 03:06 AM

Proves yet again how we Indians can be so ignorant & irrational at times.
The person voted as the IAPOY is nowhere close to be an Indian, he has taken up Christianity and wonder if he has ever travelled to India or even contributed anything to Indian cause.
An ordinary Indian taxi driver in US is a better deserving candidate for the prize, as he contributes something for India.

Bobby Jindal, a totally wrong choice
by Arun on Dec 13, 2005 12:41 AM

Bobby Jindal is totally a wrong choice for the India Abroad person of Year 2005, this award should have to be given who excelled and also carries some Indian values in him/her.

On the contrary, Bobby never has carried anything Indian, I dont think he has given his opinions/actions for any of the Indian American issues despite being in the high echelons of power. Moreover he didnt seem to have done anything great to his electorate in the New Orleans during Katrina, which deserved an award.

For what purpose has Bobby Jindal been selected as IAPOY? For achieving in political life? now, he could do all this not by maintaining his identity. Surely, who ever adopts a country, should follow their social norms. But USA is supposed to be a secular country. His achievement would have been more heartening to indians, if he had done it without changing his religion from being a Hindu to become a Christian, so that his constituents would accept him. I dont think it is because of belief in christianity, but to be accepted by his voters he had to change his religion. His progress would have been more pronounced, if only he could have made his voters to accept him as a good worker and not choose him based on his religion. he may be a good politician, but he couldnt convince his voters about his honesty and credentials. I cant imagine these things happening in India. We have a proxy PM, who doesnt think it fit to change her religion in tune with the majority of the population and not even change her accent. I think Bobby jindal had stooped down for the crumbs the so called secularist US citizens are giving him.
