why to put all blame on the police force, when we have not acted as we might have to act, why we believe in the rumours its we who have made it a great disaster

sir, i agree that Indian police force are not given training on the disaster management but i am sure even if they are given the same-they would hardly come forward to help others in dangers.

however, i came across a blog on the Jantaraj, written on the loopholes of the whole operational system.
http://www.jantaraj.com/blog/bcdetails.asp?bid=94

please go through the blog. it is all about what you said in the interview and related to your thoughts...

Police and disaster mgmt

My feelings for our country and for our society desperately wish that Dr. Pasricha is sincere when he speaks of the action plan and the commitment he proclaims for action. How I wish all bureacrats and politicians were equally earnest.

Well Said But Not Done
by Amit on Aug 24, 2005 05:49 PM

Sir,
I appreciate your feelings and wish u good luck to do whatever you can do within your capacity.
But we are very hollow within ourself, system is so empty and bureaucrats and politicians are so greedy that none of them would leave a chance to fill up their pockets.
politicians give is Lolipops like making SHANGHAI of MUMBAi, and we suck that for 5 years, again they give some other lolipop in next election and we suck that for another 5 years. This is how we have been living with.
We hv to learn from China, more populated than us, but they have ways of managing problems,and before we compare anything between what is good and what is bad, we better learn what we can improve. THE FASTER THE BETTER for us.
We always try to find shortcuts- in long term we are the biggest loosers.
I hope society as a whole will adapt to the changes needed.
POLITICIANS-LISTENING??
Amit

I'd really like to know which region are you the commissioner or inspector of, or which region do you represent in your political post. If you don't do either of these, I'm sorry to say you can't have your facts right. I'd like to know the truth from you as you think this is nonsense.

Rise, man, rise !
by chanakya on Aug 29, 2005 12:09 PM
Rise above that regionalism bug that has harmed this nation so much;

Rise above the ranks and files of those khakhis, safed topis or the saffrons;

And above all, rise above all those political prisons and isms.

When you rise above all these, Amit, you can see the nation that you love and would give your best, including your life, if need be.

An ordinary citizen is sometimes having far more diligence, intelligence, and the most important of all, common sense.

One has to be a common man to have a lot of common sense.

Chanakya is a common man leading all common men to a better life and an enviable nationhood.

Mr. Dinurao,

How much money do you make? Have you never bribed anyone in your life? Have you reported someone you know who takes bribes to the police? You cannot blame the police for their corrupt ways without acknowledging that it is one of the lowest paying jobs in India and a non-policeman in India is far from being a saint. Your disgust for the corrupt police is justified and their anguish and mental stress due to criminals is not?? You don't want police in disaster management and yet you expect them to come to your help, immediately attend to your troubles with all honesty and sincerity? Good, next time you are robbed, roam the streets and find the thief yourself!
