Unbelieveble
by Subhendu on Nov 30, 2006 04:32 PM

Its all bull shit. I can't believe there exist a devide between dalit & upper class in orissa. There has never been any uproar in the state of orissa over dalit oppression. The reason for stopping the girl from cycling past a village could be something else and has been surely blown out of proportion

disgusting

Such incidents are disgusting. My fear is that some day the Dalit girl might get gang-raped by upper-cast people who hate her shadow on their village road. The politicians who are fighting for the girl should arrange for safe accommodation for the girl near her collage.

what the hell is this. We r talking abt only a Dalit girl not abt a women. Becs she is dalit she came in the lime light of news if same happen with any other caste girl there is no body talk about. I m not saying villagers have done right, I m just saying why, dalits, brahmins, upper caste lower caste, Don't divide india in to castes. Put culprits behind the bars becs they r shame for this country. Ours poltician wants to divide us a get vote for them. Why there is reservation only for lower caste it shd be for all who needs it on there finacial status. Every party wants to make dalit as there vote bank. No body think abt actual problem like in this case It's the unjustice to a women no body talk abt it. If u rectify the problem then it will be gud for society & nation rather then thinking who is upper caste & lower caste.

Great Show !
by Hariti Pathak on Aug 25, 2005 02:11 AM

Kudos Mamta .We all are proud of you.It is not easy to survive in a place where people, especially, men are "Good for Nothing", and all they can do is to point a finger at a female who has the ability to prosper in life.It is too much for these egoistic pigs.Anyways, do carry on the good work.I'm glad your fellow students are supporting you.Three cheers for them also.

Don't divide our society!
by Arun on Aug 25, 2005 02:07 AM  | Hide replies

Its high time reporters learn how to report a news? Do you have any count of number of upper caste girls who change their route to school or colleges due to taunting and teasing from boys of other section of society. I can tell you its infinite. Reason ,our society hasn't learned to respect woman. You could have easily said woman stopped by vilagers from riding bycycle but adding dalit made it a sesational report through which you gain new heights in your career. For god sake stop creating division in our society by this sensational reporting. Considering our politicians are trying their best to carry on legacy of social division in our country we don't need reporters like you.

Stop this nonsense
by Sameer on Aug 24, 2005 09:58 PM

It is appalling that not-so-remote villages also display their illiteracy and the evil casteism in such manner. I hope the local poiliticians take this matter up soon and fight the discrimination. This only proves that unless we educate our masses, we are never going to be a truly democratic country, notwithstanding the media coverage of how India is doing great.

a very shamefull act
by Jimmy Sebastian on Aug 24, 2005 09:24 PM

this is very shamefull for the residents of the village, and for india as such.
it is a pity that after morethan half a century of independance incidences like this happen.the government should do everything to eliminate such incidents and the culprits should be punished siverly,so that again these things never happen.if not done now, india will still have a long way for any accountable development.
