Bureau exam results....
by Uday on May 26, 2004 04:30 PM

The article was a complete disaster.Bureau coming in place of board.....poor presentation.....unnecessary comparisons.....if you didnt know Mr.Article writer, the delhi populace would comprise only 1% of the people going through your article. Then why get Delhi to stick its head into all the statistics, both positive and negative?
And you should have said something more about the Chennai region....everytime it comes out on top and the media ignores it as much as it can....just because Delhi is the national capital dosent mean people would be more interested in its stats. And I notice each time north is given better focus...poor down south
Mind you,I myself am from Nagpur...

I think the the board results should not be declared on gender lines. It only adds to to the already existing deep divide between boys and girls in this country. The higher percentage of girls passing attracts a lot of comments from the males like girls do well only by mugging up and they do not have real talent or intelligence.

Since we are a country which does not have any discriminatory practices on the basis of gender , caste , creed etc., I think we can do away with this practice too. Also, results are not being calssified in terms of any other criteria like caste, religion etc. Let a student be only a student, not be a "female" or "male" student.

Statistics can deceiving....

You are giving the pass percentage of girls is higher than boys. But, if you see the number of girls passing will be lesser than boys. You are calculating percentage girls and boys separately. rather you should combine both and get the percentages. In that case the number of girls passed will be lesser than boys...

Central Bureau ?
by rajan kant on May 26, 2004 01:37 PM

When I took my board exams CBSE stood for Central Board for Secondary Education and not Central Bureau... as mentioned in this article. I guess your editor went for a walk or he has too uch fascination with CBI, eh ?
