I think this is a very good article. Write ups like these need to be publicized more in India. I see my fellow Indians sucking up to white skinned people for absolutely no reason except an inferiority complex and it fills me with shame. Maybe if white people like Mr Gautier are able to reach a wider indian audience, they might finally get across the point that Indians are in no way inferior to others.

1. Reg indian's fascination towards fair skin - think of all the beauty products that make millions ... c'mon the feeling exists .. anybody who wants to refute this ought to travel to some non descript village with a fair girl (yes girl). to which part of the country - doesnt matter.
2. reg sonia gandhi - she is beneath contempt - i dont want to talk about her - she is simply unfit to rule this country.
3. many respondents think that the author had put down india or something ... but i think otherwise - he has actually talked for us in strong words. are we indians so spineless that we cant accept our shortcomings?
This is a very simplistic letter with sweeping statements and generalisations. The fact remains that it is the whites who are obsessed with the colour of their skin. They never cease to rub this fact in at every opportunity. The references to Sonia Gandhi and Mother Teresa are sheer nonsense. Indian is a nationality, not a race. So, the question of Sonia Gandhi not being Indian, not withstanding the colour of her skin, does not arise. Also, to suggest that Indians are so dumb that they need a Mother Teresa to save themselves, reveals a deep-seated inferiority complex in the writer. What next? Are Indian Christians going to be accused of shamelessly worshipping a white man or an Arab (if Jesus was alive today, he would be a Syrian) as god?
