Pakistan <==> India && India <==> Paksitan
by Dr. Ch. Subrahmanyam on Apr 19, 2004 04:20 PM

I hope & believe we are in good hands of Vajpayee to put a different shade to the relations with Pakistan Vs. trust in the way the diplomacy uses it. We might flex muscles, but not really use the muscle. We might offer something extravagant on the sporting side, but economical/geographical sense, nothing would be given away. All the the vents are to gaurd the image of the nation, person at the helm of affairs for what the world politcs would like it to be. After initial euphoria for the lection consumption, the practical things will be different.

Pakistan's Hospitality towards Indians.
by Naved Chaudhary on Apr 05, 2004 05:36 PM

I was lucky enough to visit Pakistan to witness the final ondayer between the 2 cricketing jiants.
It was a dream come true for me,seeing all the cricketing greats in front of my eyes.

It became more memorable as Pakistani people treated us with full affection.

It started from the Wagaw border, as people waved hands right through the 27kms's journey from Wagah to Lahore.
It was too emotional, I thought lucky to miss the flight as I was not able to get the return tickets for the Delhi-Lahore flights. So, I moved by train.

It was a journey of lifetme to me.

I visited a market close to my hotel to purchase cloth for the Indian flag in order to use it in the match. The person when came to know that I am from India, He was not ready to take even a single rupee.
He hugged me and water in his eyes was clearly seen.

I wished why we are apart and fighting with each other, can't we come closer and make a combined country filled with joy and happiness.

The instance was at Anarkali street, a person met me and asked if I am from India and he returned back with soft drinks......
I just pray that we should come close and join hands for everlasting pease.

The Voice of Kashmir
The Future of Pakistan????????
by The Voice of Kashmir on Apr 05, 2004 03:59 PM

Pakistan is now on the threshold where democratic and secular forces are on the verge of losing their face and status in front of islamic fundumentalists and dictatorship.....The US forces are now in most parts of Central and West Asia this has been a cause of worry for China....The US in future will occupy Pakistan and use it as a base to keep a check on China,India and Russia

Pakistan has no say in the Kashmir issue...Overseas
Kashmiris are tired of pleading to the UNO to take some action and we beleive that soon the action will be from the US....and India,Pakistan and China have to agree to it.

India must be very cautious in dealing with the Pakistanis losing in cricket is life and death matter for them.....they lack education as well as sporting sense

Swapan's Article
by George on Apr 01, 2004 01:32 PM

Swapan Dasgupta seems to be an expert on all and sundry. Viewing everything from the prism of Kashmir, Kargill, Jehadis can really bring up some telling arguments. The media today has hyped cricket so much and now by talking with a forked tongue about dangers of which his expertise is questionable, Swapan is only corrupting the masses. Look at what the media did by scaring us about the bird flu and drove so many poultry farmers to poverty.
Sincerely wish people like Swapan do spend time on research and take divergent views before wriritng such opinionated stuff!!!

Hari Padmanabhan
Musharraf......
by Hari Padmanabhan on Mar 30, 2004 06:58 PM

Hard nosed pursuit of self interest has never been India's forte. In sport this trait was described as lack of the killer instinct. We should learn from the US what single minded pursuit of self interest is all about - though they do it in such a crass way that their actions lead to the overkill and hence lapse into dysfunctionality.

We should accept Pakistani hospitality without getting overwhelmed nor apologetic about defending our national interests in a robust but unsentimental fashion. Musharraf is trying to save himself from lurking assassins, from the wrath of jehadists for having abandoned them in favour of the US and for having humiliated A Q Khan, from the developed world who wonder whether in fact "non state" actors did not obtain bomb making technology from A Q Khan with the blessings of the Pakistani army....

Only Swapan Dasgupta and G Parthasarathy keep cautioning us on the perils of lowering our guard.

True

It's quite true that Pakistan's are hospitable, but then indian should never forget from past lessons. Remember Kargil happened when Atalji was shaking hands with Nawaz Sharif.
Hope nothing of this sought happens in the coming time.
