You need to read Atal's poems
by rajan on Jul 08, 2004 10:00 PM

well prasad I really didn't know it was possible to write so much and not say anything. I dunno, may be you could read some of Atal's poems and learn a few tricks on how to express throughts and ideas in about 10 lines instead of expressing nothing in 100 lines.

Frame it in Gold

This is in response to Krishna Prasad's piece on Modi to be dethroned. No one is disputing the election he won to become an MLA. No one is disputing the fact that he was chosen the leader of the MLAs of the BJP and thus became a Chief Minister again. ( despite Godhra and all that happened afterwards.) Even Mr. Vajpaye did not ask Modi to resign his MLAs post. Those who have lost elections have become Ministers or Governors in the past also. What the people of this country would like to see is the BJP to replace Modi with another BJP man as Chief Minister. If that person is not an elected member of the Assembly all that the Party has to do is to get him elected within 6 months. Why confuse the rediff readers with such comparisons?

House-hunting for Dr. Singh...

Krishna Prasad asked, shounln't a Rajya Sabha membership is enough authentication for PMs post, I beg to differ completely. A PM of our country must be a completely democratically elected leader from one of the constituencies. I would expect that person be elected and approved by the entire country if possible. But in a country like india, such a thing may be very difficult becuase of various cultural/lingustic/social things attached over a person from his place of origin due to various bias. Though such differences among peopole are rapidly going away due to the influence TV, media, Internet, modernization and technology, where people see these differences are smaller over the broad benefits which come due to unity and integrity, exceptions are there though. In any case, when such a across the country approval system comes to India like in US. I am sure India will be considered the best democracy and above all the most tolerant and secular people to ever live in mother earth. Lets hope and pray for that.

Sick propagandist
by rohan malkhare on Jul 01, 2004 09:36 PM

Krishna Prasads column House Hunting for Mr. Singh portrays overtones and undertones of the faithful anti-BJP stories that are dogmatically pursued in the columns of the loony leftists in the Indian media. Firstly, there is the gross untruth of the BJP discarding Vajpayee into the dustbin of history. A weird exercise that people like Prasad have persistently indulged in is to create and magnify a distinction between Vajpayee and the BJP with the intention of showing that the BJP is dirty except for the former PM. The reality is that the personality cult has not been created by the BJP but by shoddy and purposefully mendacious journalists like Prasad. It would be obvious to a keen observer of Indian Politics that the tom-tomming of the Atal wave was not done by Venkaiah Naidu but in fact but the very same band of sick journalists in the Indian English media who never want to recognize and portray the importance of the BJP in the life of India as a mature democracy.
And secondly, in the absence of any other journalistic gift, Prasad seems to be blessed with the unique talent for self-serving glorification of the profession of journalism.

Question Mark
by DN on Jul 01, 2004 02:49 PM

The country has surely gone for a question mark what with the present government not sure of anything. Each fumbling step it takes there is uncertainty and there is pull and counter pull. Regarding BJP it has not discarded ABV, rather it need not be whatever one leader feels or wants should be agreed by other leaders of the party, unlike in congress wherein sychopants would agree to whatever is said by Sonia. You can count many ministers in the congress party who are there because of loyalty to Sonia.

Regards,
