Wow.. Nice to read a debate about "National Anthem"... But the first msg sender that "Saare Jahan se achha" is not our National Anthem please..read the whole story carefully..the writer has only said..that national anthem was being played..he didnt mention "saare jahan se achha". I think that could have stopped all further..complications..n I agree with the opiinion that it is respect that we show towards our Nation.. Jay Hind...

Madhavi, This is most wierdest thing to hear. Who said that today's youth donot give heed to national anthem. It shows that this was the dumbest class of era for all the students stood at a wrong song being played

You are right...but "Sare Jahhan Se Accha" gained almost equal importance. Besides, in this era of youngsters not paying attention to the National Anthem itself, it was definitely an appreciable act!

Hi Ritu... Its not dumbest...act..I agree with Madhavi..students showed respect to the Saare Jahan Se Accha...no doubt its not our national anthem..but it shows their love n respect for the nation....N tell me how many of us really stand up or pay heed when national anthem is played on 15 th of August..think frm ur heart..how many times u urself stood up..for ur national anthem... So before sayin its dumb understand that in today's century someone paid respect to the feeling...that Saare jaahan se accha HINDUSTAAN HAMARA...hope my message is loud n clear to you!!!

if that happened in our class,we would have become the laughing stock of thw whole college. Standing up when some lottery ticket seller blurts out sare jahaan se acha doesn't make you any better citizen.Actually,I found it embarassing recently when a crowd of Indians stood up with their hands on their hearts in a bar, when Indian national anthem was played, before the India-Aus world cup final telecast. I didn't find any Australian doing so when their anthem was played, perhaps they were traitors?
Well !!!!! After being tired with my hectic day, these lil stories made me very light. Felt fresh after reading them. Keep posting such articles. Regards

Well, being indian we all should know what is our Nationa Anthem, National Song and other things which make us stand with pride and glory. I myself feel that playing the national anthem at various places like theaters and every three hours by Aaj Tak channel is really inspiring. I saw my 4 year old nice, who go to play school, stand in attention while listening to national anthem on television. I felt very proud of her. I pray all indians should understand and respect everything that is indian. And being indian we are cultured enough to respect other nationalities and their culture. Right now i am in USA and i seen indians talking ill of indian systems, but what is india...who make its system...the answer is WE...WE make india...and so before talking bad about our own country we should mind our own habits. Its is nobdy but us that make it bad or good. And i blame media to some extent because india is related to poor, cow-worshipping, elephant-travellers. Dyring election time, the media here printed photos of people carrying ballot boxes on elephents. I know they were true but why cant our media supply things in foreign media that represent our pride... think over it !

Dear Shazia, Instead of being loud & justifying something peevish, try & come out of this psuedopatriotism & be intelligent & sober. FYI I still attend Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti & Republic Day celebration in our school & if I get a chance watch it on TV. Perhaps what is sung is not of importance to you but it is definetly to citizens like us. Dont just blurt out anything insensible. It is funny that all the engg students stood up at the wrong song. Not even one realised what is played is not our national anthem.Far fetched. Are you a part of such crowd????????
