by Kameshwar Pandey on Dec 28, 2004 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Sir
Yes it is one way.But many people dont belive in this way .So better if any volunteer who can collect cloth foods etc apart from money.
Many people will certainly give .So this is another way how we can help better .As some organisation are there .So why they are not comint to big it firms other companies. From there they can collect cloth etc.
Because this is going to help much compare to money .We are not sure whther this money will reach to them or not.As it happen in Gujrat eartquake. We got so many dollars of help from U.S but only few dollars were in use other went to pocket.

I agree, its much better to donate clothes, medicines etc. instead of money cause we never know how much of it will ever reach the needy.

Kindly address us to any such registered organization.

Aid to tsunami affected
by Alamelu Venkatachalam on Dec 28, 2004 09:53 AM

I sincerely request every charitable-minded individual to identify and route their contributions directly to a recipient.
The various NGOs and aid workers are mostly merely parasites on society, and take a hefty cut out of your contribution before passing on the remnants to the needy.
If at all you make use of an NGO, ensure that all the aid workers are strictly honorary, and pay their own way (including expenses).
If they cannot afford to do so, they should be working at a productive job, not pretending to be social workers.

extending a helping hand
by Niharika Popli on Dec 28, 2004 01:00 AM  | Hide replies

As we all know, the devastation caused by the tsunami waves has completely shattered Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar islands & other parts of south east Asia. Just at the commencement of the New Year, thousands have lost their lives & millions have been rendered homeless. The island of Karnicobar & the village of Nagapattinam have turned into virtual graveyards. This is a national tragedy. Though, the govt. officials & NGOs are chipping in with some help, none of our efforts can really compensate the loss of life & property in the affected areas. The people affected are understandably grieved & traumatized beyond imagination. It is, but only true that whatever happens, life just goes on. We cannot do anything to bring back the lost lives but together we can make an effort & extend our helping hand to our brothers & sisters, help them rebuild their lives. At this time when our fellow countrymen in the south are mourning, it would be morally incorrect to celebrate the New Year. My friends & I have decided to call off the New Year celebrations & donate the money kept for the celebrations to the PMs relief fund. Please join me & donate money for the relief fund.

This is a very good deed from you and your friends. I do hope many people learn from the good deeds done by you and your friends and contribute generously as the tsunami waves have done tremendous damage to lives & property.
