Battlefield of Indian History
by Padmanabhan on Oct 01, 2006 11:46 PM

Dear Rajiv
The first Archeological survey discovered two sites Mohan jo daro and Harappa in 1920's. and based on the limited evidences the whole story is being cooked up.
But now there are more than 1000 sites of Harappan civilisation from Narmada to Punjab, hariyana have been discovered. Major no.of sites are along the Saraswati River. Mohan jo daro is somewhat isolated site from the main cluster of Harappan sites in Rajastan and Punjab.
The present position of Archeological findings exactly support the history as depicted in our ancient literature, Vedas, ithihasa and puranas. The detailed and continuous list of dynasties from Manu till known historic period kings like Ashoka are available in Bhagavatha, Vishnupurana and Bharata. If we calculate based on number of generations backwards from Buddha period rulers like Bimbisara in the said list, we can approximately say that 'Vaivaswata Manu' ruled in the period around 3500-4000BC. Puranas say that Manu lived in 'Brahmavarta'desa. Manusmruti says that Brahmavarta is situated in between Saraswati and Drushadwati. Hence we can assume that Kalibangan and nearby Harappan sites are the capital of Brahmavarta of Manu's times.

This is very good story and not a history
by arul moras on Aug 30, 2004 10:36 AM

People who orginated in and around the equatorial and tropical zone tends to look dark if not wheatish, say africans (blacks, Original Arabs (they are black), Dravidians and Indian oceanic islanders (they are black if not wheatish)again south east asians (Malaysia, singapore, combodia, indonesia, brunei who are wheatish) Aborigins of Fuji and australia do look black if not wheatish) why not red indians and original inhabitants of south america and mexico are black if not wheatish. So black and wheatish are the color of the natives who live on the equatorial and tropical zone around the globe. If this the thing fact that the whole world believe, its really very funny WHITE SKIN Aryan (Brahmin) claiming that he is a native if not the original inhabitant of a tropical country INDIA. Thank god these white skinned cunning Brahmins and leaving our holy India to their own relatives if not their skinned people and settling down in large scale in America and Europe who spoiled the rich cultural heritage of the Dravidians and made them slave and gave them less importance than what the gave to cow. Degrading human values for centuries, humiliating human beings in the name of god, showing themselves as supreme next to god and cheating and living as a parasite on the same people whom they regard as sudras.

Please don't bring religion based politics in the discussion group
by Kevin on Aug 24, 2004 02:16 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Niru,
Why do you have this attitude of doing religion based politics. Just because no Christian or Muslim has posted his/her views does not make them unpatriotic. I am a christian but am proud to be an Indian and follow our culture (I will not consider hinduism as a religion, but as a walk of life). I have good knowledge on our culture, history and our traditions. Just because I am a christian you cannot deprieve me off these rights. People like you cause more harm to the peaceful society. Be humble, be strong. Always spread the good word. Protect your interests but don't harm other's interests. Few people don't define a religion and you definitely don't define hinduism.
"Nothing is STRONGER than GENTLENESS
Nothing is as GENTLE as real STRENGTH"

Be strong and gentle. Please don't be rude and inconsiderate.

Kevin,

It's not about Muslims and Christians not posting their views. It's about what they post when they DO post.

Just have a look at all the posts and you'll see what I mean. It appears they believe that they just have to oppose anything that says something positive about Hinduism.

sad for India
by Kiran B on Aug 21, 2004 01:13 AM

It is sad for India to have these communists and pseudo-seculars back at the helm of NCERT. Again they will go for Distorted, anti-Indian and communist-oriented history.

on the lighter side
by Satya Prakash on Aug 20, 2004 02:45 PM

The article reminds me of one of the comments of a Professor in the class. He said" Britishers taught us that you are fools .. and we taught our children( still teaching)that we are fools.Indian historians have always refrained themselves of asserting their glorious past because of two reasons, first, they find it safer and more paying(in academic terms) to support western ideas, second they feel that if they glorify the ancient Hindu culture their identity as a secular person may be at stake.

de-communistisation
by Rainbow on Aug 20, 2004 01:22 AM

We must start de-communistisation of the education. That is what NDA has done when it was ruling.
Saffronisation or Indianisation means de-communistisation
