Mr. Srinivasan is just awesome. I am particularly scary of the Chinese moves to divert water from south(east) asian states for its own benifit. Indeed, water is more important for any civillization than any other fluid. I sincerely hope that future governments take up this issue. Unfortunately no party, nor any of their bigmouth manifesto seems to talk on this issue. I hope good sense prevails, better late than never ....
I have always appreciated your articles. They invariably drive home the point. One suggestion though, would appreciate lesser use of the "I" and references to your past articles as your substantiating statements. Thats probably why George "extolled" your err... Oracular prowess.
Rajeev Srinivasan has accurately predicted all major events much in advance. Water scarcity, chaos in Iraq, Pakistan's treacherous stands...
What is left out is the date and time of armageddon. C'mon Rajeev, predict that one too. I'm sure you can.
PS: The article was not very clear on how Christians and Muslims are responsible for global warming and erratic behaviour of el-nino. Hope the author will throw more light on this in his next article.

He however did not fail to mention that agriculture was another failure of the past something that he heard from some IIM professor somewhere - despite so many Five year plans laying emphasis on agriculture converting a land of perennial food shortages to a net exporter by great dams and canal systems. I am sure that this failure is also the fault of the christians and the muslims.. they are responsible!!
Gen Musharaff too has changed his mind - predicted by Rajeev - in the next article he will show how it is the fault of the Muslims and Christians - Never mind that the Irfan Khan Pathans,Mohammad Kaifs and Zaheer Khans playing for India are doing her proud on the cricket field.

Of several things you mentioned, I would like to comment on the despicable mob behavior, which brutally claimed the lives of Americans who were helping Iraq in Falluja. The killers must be captured and punished so that it will never happen any where in the world to any individuals again. Such a thing in recent years happened to Indians by the actions of both Pakistanis in the west and Bangladeshis in the east. The capture of these perpetrators in Falluja will hopefully put brakes on such behavior elsewhere in the world. Vijaya kumar

It is appparent that certain readers are unable to appreciate or digest the success that Rajeev has had with predicting the shape of things to come, that too in diverse areas. Worse still, they resort to taking cheap shots.
Columnists who display versatility/knowledge in different areas and/or able to boldly take a open-minded stance on the shape of things to come based on knowledge/cycles of history/human behaviour etc stand apart from run of the mill columnists - the likes of whom dominate the Indian media.
Fortunately rediff.com has some of the former kind and that is what makes it refrshingly different.
Hi Rajiv, You start writting some good article and somehow get lost somewhere else. If you think agriculture is the important field where Indian govt should concentrate, then you should come out with your proposal why farmers son should be proud of becoming farmer (except Chautalas or Ajit Singhs who are part time farmers). Is there any initivative to address this issue. In a country where people can earn more just talking, why people will work hard to see a very dark future at the age of fifty or sixty? Ask our politician to get the scheme so that people will be attracted to agriculture. --- Dinesh
How aptly rajeev has srawn the picture of India. With temperatures soaring to 40 deg , electioneering by the parties is incresing. With 27 public rallies by BJP, people will wish the elections are over soon. pakistanis want frienship with Indians and the proof is the good behavior of the crowds. They were cheering the best team and players of both countries. Veeru was cheered eqally as their guls and samis. Hope the politicians will keep away from sermons and allow people to come closer. President Musharraf can never be trusted and he will always woos America and fool atalji ,any bets?
In your article "Pakistan is duping India" you went explain many things. The reality is the Big Bush is using both from India- Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pakistan- Parvez Mushraf to buy the American Agenda in Asian sernario. We have seen for the past decade it has succeeded in seeding its agenda through these two people who claim themselv as biggest reformers, while acutally under BJP led NDA has surrender to American pressure so much that India is already been sold to USA.
So, Mr Srivasan must know it is not Pakistan is duping India- ( have you forgotten Khandar and Kagil)it is this man at the helm of affair of NDA is duping Indian royally, and people have succumbed to this without any resistence as they have used the most subtle plan to dupe the common man of India.
Mr. Harsh Symore had said Mr. Moraji Desai was a CIA Agent and proceeded with VP Sigh name appearing as his succesor and now people has every reason to belief that GOD man of Sangh Parivar and BJP is inheriting it from VP Sigh who is now on vane.
Learn your basics only with Rajeev. He always draws our attention to the most important but the most neglected and at the same time easily amendable issue at hand. It'll also be of great value to know what we could do in the cities/towns as individuals to conserve.
