Mr Swapan dasgupta seems to be quietly aspiring for a seat in rajyasabha just as other journalist like pritish nandy by siding with the shiv sena and the editor of pioneer who are sitting their after marketing their soul, does he think we are so naive to believe that gujrat is not the fresh ground for the recruitment of terrorists, can he recall any other place in india where the muslims are humiliated as badly as in gujrat, then why it will not become a breeding ground for terrorist. why such attacks are taking place only in gujrati dominant places and not in west bengal. What surprises me is that the gujratis have not learnt any lessons from their past mistakes. It would not be out of place to remind them that PLAGUE followed 1991 ram mandir riots and EARTHQUAKE followed the burning the churches, now its time to see what follows the gujrat riots. These gujratis are not allowing the deposed muslims to return whereas they themselves keep migrating in europe and america in huge numbers. What if they are also driven away from their. Time will tell.

Swapan's Jehad

It appears that from the article that all those arrested are not guilty, and the BJP govt had engineered all the blasts in Mumbai and Gujrat. It makes no difference to writers if the divide between the communities widens by such articals or their hindu bashing they can hog more limelight write more articals and make more money. Let the muslims be angry on gujrath, let hindus be angry over godhra and kashmere more the merrier. no wonder Journos are called vultures.

Changing public opinion against popular sentiment or government decisions is a part of strategy in any warfare. This was evident during the impasse of our border standoff which resulted in nothing as the press and so called defence experts were able to confuse over politicians, public and defence by constantly saying that our forces are not equipped, a nuclear fallout, or defeat due to substandard equipment and create doubt, fear and reduce confidence in the minds of the people to the detriment of the stated objective. Subsequently the same mechanism was used after the Gujarat incident. Once again propaganda was deployed to give the aggrieved Gujaratis and Hindus a bad name, now the same is put to work after the Mumbai bomb blasts. Looking at the present situation prevailing in the country it has become important to put in place strict laws, not only stricter implementation of the same but also to punish the people who recourse to foment trouble. You must be thinking I am speaking about terrorists or religious groups etc. NO! I am referring to those set of people or groups or organisations including the media be it press television or the internet who are being used by those organisation who want to foment trouble in the country - this could be countries friendly or against us, groups with international funding etc. It has become a fashion to invite experts, opinion makers, socialites, and the aggrieved party to represent in debates or shows or forums in discussion on such topics thinking that this will lead to increase in viewership or force public opinion. But it seems that people with hidden agenda have mastered this medium for their plans and using it very well. The organisers of such events have played unknowingly or knowingly in their hands and resorted to such blatant propaganda mechanisms. The people who are invited would or would not have access to information on the role or extent of the propagators of such terror incidents and indulge in useless conversation, which is aimed to look good before the public and not necessarily subscribe to the views they argue often resulting in creating a wrong picture. The government should put in strong strong censorship before such programmes aired and a team to go into every sentence in any newspaper report and arrest the editor and the writer who has painted the people or a section of them and the country in wrong light. Speaking about permitting FDA in print - well this will be the last straw in propaganda warfare.

''Gujrat: Let it Go Please''

Gujrat...Gujrat..Gujrat!!
Well its high time that we stop crying Gujrat...."cause the harm has already been done, and lets for Gods sake (Allah,Jesus,Ram..and all included)stop for once and all trying our utmost best justifying,' either way'.
Why? And I ask again "Why?" do we have to keep this this burning.. I know that this exercise of justifying has already been undertaken for number of times by one and all, to what results? Well we can answer that to ourselves'cause thats where we usually are truthfull.

Its history, good or bad, lets forget it for I am sure it will not leave any good lessons for us or our children to follow, I am sure good a number subscribes to this view point and if it is so, may I request Mr. Swapan Dasgupta to please use his vast knowledge of things specially history in positive and constructive manner.
I am sure that we all want a better, stronger and economically stable India. What "I" also want is from my countrymen and my country a place "Where I can hold my head high, breath and dream free".
I also well realise that when i ask my country and countrymen for such a place for me, I too owe themsomething in return. "ASK"

The basic premise of any civil society is that the state should treat all sections of the societies/communities equally. Of course, there can be and will be aberrations, for no system can be perfect. But there is a difference betwen an aberration and the State turning against one section of the society. When the state clearly goes against any one section of the society,it not only loses the trust of the community but it creates a sense of immense frustration in the community. When a community, and a minority one at that which does not have the numbers to affect the elections, the response to the State's terrorism is likely to be violent, whether we like it or not. Whether or not the recent blasts are the direct consequance of the Post Godhra riots is debatable. But it is a fact that Muslims, not only in Gujarat but across the nation are badly shaken by this expression of State Terrorism and the endorsement of the Terrorists by Gujarat's elctorate.

And lastly, what specific action would Mr. Dasgupta like the Indian State to take against the militants which it is not already taking.

Politics of blasts
by Sudhanshu Mittal on Sep 10, 2003 10:16 AM

The Bombay blasts were the handiwork of terrorists and even before the dust had settled down on the blasts, the congress leaders in Bombay had started blaming Gujrat riots for blasts. Instead of healing the people's wounds, they chose to extract cynical political mileage out of these murders. Same thing was done by left wing leaders and so called "Secular" congress leaders.

I agree that unless Indians feel outraged at those who are perpetuating these acts there is nothing that is really going to happen. But they are not the only ones. We need to get outraged at those also who are out to get political mileage from these killings and murders. We need to tell these politicians to shut up and do a real day's work to prevent these murders. We have seen our politicians thinking of consolidating their vote banks by these murders and need to punish those. Then only there will be other politicians who will feel the outrage that is felt by some of us at these murders and take actions against the instigators of these murderous atrocities.
