BIHAR
by D.M.OJHA. on Oct 31, 2003 10:32 PM

Mr. Srinivasan's assessment of BIHAR is thought provoking.Being a professional of Bihari origin settled in PUNE we feel ashamed of declaring ourself as Bihari. No doubt lower cast people were exploited by a few upper cast jamindars and their stooges in the past, but they died much before LALOO Yadav came to power and started taking revenge of unjustice of the past from the new generation of upper cast people by denying job opportunities even to deserving upper cast candidates by politics of manupulations.WILL THIS BE CALLED THE REAL JUSTICE OF THE PAST?
I am a firm believer of optimestic views expressed by the writer and pray GOD that Lalloo and gang of his followers will see the wrtings on the wall before it is too late.Honestly speaking situation is changing in Bihar but the speed of change is rather slow.I am afraid that situation will not become bad enough for LORD KRISHNA to send a theatrical boy dressed as a pregnant woman to DURVASHA RISHI for a pridiction if the child who will take birth will be a male or female
and Rishi predicting that the child will destroy the whole LOT of YADUANSHIS after taking birth. The end of the mythological story is well known.IT SHOULDNOT REPEAT

I feel that the condition of Bihar is not so bad as it has been said in this article. I agree that is not very good but still the author has exagerrated a lot. I would like to advice him to have a look himself before commenting so rudely. and by the way I dont think the other states are much forward and all the states have come out of the caste system problem. there are caste problems in other states presently too. At last I would like to mention that though some regions are backwards but still there are many other regions which can be compared to any of the advanced cities like bangalore.

I do agree

Sir I am Btech student in prestigious IIT Bombay
and my roots are in Bihar.
Its a truth I admit that I dont like (or should I say I hate) being called a Bihari although I am a person with great self-esteem.
That you suggest to young and brave to go to Bihar, its promising..I wish I could agree..
Of all the risks,I think risk on you and your family due to criminals is the biggest. And I am sorry but not many will ever be that brave.
The frist need is the removal of fear from masses, the rest will follow.

One doesnt have to agree with the scribe and his somewhat mixed views. The utter positive thinking on Bihar was very fresh and surprising, esp. when the gap between Bihar and other states are in fact getting bigger and bigger every second.
To raise the interest for readers the scribe should

1) be far more concise;writing in exessive lengths doesnt help anybody.esp.today where another site is just one click away.

Wonderful read!!

I agree with author that times change and sometimes they change all too quickly. I don't think riches in Indian cities won't make a difference in lives of people staying in rural areas. Most of the workforce comes from smaller towns and villages & the money they earn from cities eventually flows into villages. It is a golden oppurtunity for Govt to build rural markets by giving subsidies/ concessions on rural projects be it power, roads or hospitals.

Bihar ...
by Lakkhu on Oct 31, 2003 04:48 PM

Your article does not contain proper records, based on broken facts and emotions. You seem to un-necessary criticize south and praise Bihar for nothing. If you are so confident of Bihar and its conditions why dont you put all of your money and enjoy the returns (possibly negative). What I dislike most is your criticism of Kerala and almost prediction of doom for the state due to sure gulf crisis in future and wonder whether a patriotic indian will even wish so. I am not sure whether the gulf crisis will occur and dont see any reason for drastic sudden change. But I am sure that kerala people will find much better options in the case it happens. And most importantly the gulf is not only green place in the world.
