This is not a bad trend but the beginning of reforms. The Police personnel when they start their career are all honest but it is the politicians, MLAs or their local goons (with the support of the MLAs direct or indirect) MPs etc., who force and train the police personnel in corrupt practices. Once a DIG remarked "it is difficult to perform honest and sincere police are difficult to find and difficult to work. And there are poeple who complain about honest policemen. So we can understand imderstand the pressure on policeman to perform duties sincerely.
This Inspector probably knows that the poeple who stay in the MLA hostel are thugs, criminals and highway robberers under whatever garb. Hence he must have tried to blast (though the first reports said it was only a false threat) since he can not do anything else as a sincere police officer.
But it should be understood that this is the beginning of good reforms to follow. Even civilians who are vexed up with the Politicians could resort to such actions since they have no other alternatives. Poor civilian will be definitely dead on account of the politicians and hence better to die a martyr.
