There definetly has to be accountability, new mechanism, law so that these corrupt judges r made to pay for their consequences. They should not be made to pass judgement unless the charges against them r proved to be wrong -otherwise wat is the relevance of a corrupt judges judgement? Its the failure of our system where such individuals finding some loopholes can misuse their post. Its been rightly said that that they would be saved by some politician. The only sufferers r the innocent people whose judgements r pronounced by these judges.

Errant judges

The anomaly between junior judicial magistrates and high court judges must be removed. Also the clause making them above law practically must be done away with. Incidentaly, judiciary system is one of the most corrupt system today in India, eating away out Democratic system.

Corrupt judges

I agree with bar council's chairman but what about the stand taken by delhi bar council in Shamit mukherjee case. The corruption in judiciary is in the knowledge of even comman and ordinary citizen. Everybody rich or poorest of this country is victim of the corrupt behaviour of judges. He prefers to tolerate injustice then to go to courts for justice. Popular feeling is that there is nexus between judges and lawyers. The behaviour of Delhi's lawyers proves this.
Bar council should not only bycott these judges but should ensure that these judges get examplary punishment.

'Make HC judges accountable'

Dear Sir
n this country where political class has made the judiciary also subservient to them by appointing only their own convenient set of people, expecting any such changes is a big folly. Who will punish whom? It is a very vicious circle in which Political class along withExecutive and judiciary have joned hands and this unholy nexsus can not be disturbed in our so called democratic set up. Lawyers are making noises just for the sake of it because it is they who are the conduits in majority of the cases in making judges corrupt. It will need no less than civil unrest to cleanse the system.

Overhaul the entire legal and judicial system
by RV on May 06, 2003 01:02 AM

The Indian judiciary has become a shameful exposition of a failed legal system. The inefficiency and bureaucratic stupidity, in family, civil or criminal courts, leaves honest citizens holding the wrong end of the stick.

It is a shame that judges with questionable credentials and morals sit on cases litigated by lawyers with no conscience in the confines of an outdated and inefficient system. Even a faint hope of delivering justice promptly is wiped out when one observes a hearing in an Indian courtroom.

Unless a complete overhaul of the judicial and legal system is done, India's present legal and judiciary processes are a mockery of the ideals of our founding fathers and a nightmare for the honest citizen seeking justice.
