Correct decision by Jaya
by sreejith menon on Jun 13, 2003 08:30 PM

The decision taken by TamilNadu C.M Ms Jayalalitha seems to be correct one.

When there is a shortage in police force and if the police or people feels the film directed by Mr KamalHasan would create communal problems, I'd rather say the filming should be stopped instead of trying to arrange protection. Although Mr Hasan is veteran in this field, it would be good if revised the subject.

Kamalahasan the Man

Unfortunately the man is most selfish and does not care a damn for anyone except himself. Jayalalitha has done the right thing (for a change)!

Protection for Kamal's film
by N.S.Bharath on Jun 13, 2003 07:13 PM  | Hide replies

Jayalalitha is absolutely right in denying protection of such sorts. These film makers have an 'opinion' on every issue and have a tendency to simplify it. They are not glued to reality. They forget their main purpose, i.e 'entertainment' and resort to 'incitement' if they feel it can give good publicity for their creations without bothering about undercurrents.
Such denial of protection will prevent such films being made.

Kamal Hassan is brilliant. But sometimes he forgets the difference between fantasy and reality. He better consider the constraints and their solutions before entering into any problems. Thats the theory in any project. Sandiyar will be shelved for most reasons like Marudanayagam. Pity such a lot of investment is gone waste.

jayalalitha's refusal for protection
by Persis.Diana. Gladstone on Jun 13, 2003 06:50 PM

hi,
I'm just sharing my point of view with regards to the article TN CM on Sandiyar.
I have noticed that from the time the present CM for TN has been elected there has been alot of problems, fights, murders etc. What kind of protection have they given to the public? Just b'coz Kamal Hassan is directing a movie and it is so good of him that he directs movie in a different way and if people have to take it in a negative manner then I don't think it is good of them to watch any movies at all.

Sandiyar

Then why is she taking so much police protection for "prolonged period" ? It is a clear expression of her inability to protect the rights of creative expression. Considering that she is from films herself, she should have known that movies do not make or mar things as much a politicians do. Caste clashes have been there for ages now, they do not happen because someone made Thevar Magan or a Sandiyar for the screen !!
