Netaji-Communists-Nationalists
by Subhash Bhagwat on Jan 23, 2003 11:10 PM

West Bengal CM's apology to Netaji wraps around criticism of Netaji and all nationalists in general. Thus it is insincere and nothing but political opportunism. Netaji was a nationalist first and foremost. His goal was to liberate India and if Germany and Japan were to be useful instruments he was not hesitating. In no way does that constitute making common cause with the fascists. By contrast, Stalin signed a friendship treaty with Hitler!Netaji's secularism was conditional to rating the Nation above religion or any other sub-identity. Nationalists including the RSS share this view with Netaji; communists don't! Thus, the RSS has every right to quote Netaji and Vivekanand whereas the CM of West Bengal has nothing in common with Netaji or Vivekanand except being Bengali.

communists misunderstood NEtaji
by Jaywant Masurekar on Jan 23, 2003 10:24 PM

Communists in India never really understood even MArx or Lenin so it doesnt come as a surprise that they misunderstood NEtaji.

And talking of VHP and RSS, though what they do may not be really inthe right Indian spirit at least they do not align themselves with India's enemies as communists did with China in 1962.

Also, Netaji was not communal but he would not ahve tolerated any other religion dominating Hinduism too. and so did Swami Vivekanandji. What they were preaching --the tolerance and world brotherhood was the essence of HInduism. And, associating these sacred names with communism is the greatest insult to these great men.

Regarding Netaji's importance like Great Son of My Mother India
by Naresh Arya on Jan 23, 2003 09:49 PM

Sir,

No doubt that Our Great Son Netaji Subhash Chander Bose ji has not been given required importance as it should be. He is also not less than Mahatma Gandhi. Congress has always avoided the importance of Netaji Subhash chander Bose, who irrespective of cast and creed did a lot for the freedom struggle of his motherland.

AS far as aligning with German and Japan is concerned it was the need of hour at that time. So I am not agree with the view of Mr. C.M of West Bengal, who has oppossed the alliance of Netaji Subhash Chander Bose with Germany and Japan.

If Netaji has adopted the way of Mahatma Gandhi ji certainly we could not achieve independence so early, Infact it was the only crucial contribution of Our Brave Son that his efforts worked the job of catalyst in achieving the independence for India otherwise it was not so easy game.

So,we should be highly indebted of Netaji Subhash Chander Bose's Contribution for independence of our Motherland i.e Great India
