Dutta admits that the film is historically based and documentary. There is no reason why the documentary aspect could not have been married into the films dramatization. I am sure that the serious aspects would as usual have been marred by the musical song and dance routines that accompany all Hindi movies. The question then arises as to the success of the film at the box office if the film was made to a high standard rather than the lowest common public denominator. As long as Bollywood is run on such a formula, it would never be world class. It lets the country down. The government needs to get its act together in a crucial area that is so important to projecting the country in the most positive light, and fulfill their obligations that such work uplifts art to the highest order.
An important part dealing with affairs of state that led to the crises has had no mention. It might have been explosive or even supportive of the government, but the men and women making such great sacrifices for the nation need to be assured that approrpriate lessons have been learned. That above all is my serious concern.
Kudos to Rediffmail. rather a sensitive issue before SAARC, Islamabad. Unconciously,I reread Kargil etc. before this mail. I too wish all would be well between India and Pakistan. After reading Nawaz Shaerif's post Kargil statement, I feel these Pakis are bad people, I will never trust. Really! I appeal to Vajpeyijee not to attend SAARC! I will not trust the Pakistanis! Pakis lack charachter and trust - they would rather stab in the back! They are a bad proposition. Pls Vajpeyijee, wait and postpone SAARC, Islamabad! I hate Pakistani politik!
