feel-good
by vara on Feb 24, 2004 08:14 PM

The view is certainly encouraging, embellished with all the good facts. Unfortunately the literacy rate, political instability, communal riots, pwgs, bodos, nagas, and other groups are the concerning facts which makes people skeptical.

Feel good?
by Vivek on Dec 30, 2003 09:24 PM

The feel good factor is only for those who benefit from this phase. Taking advantage of Demographic factor would mean full scale investment in human resources - health, nutrtition, education, public sanitation, clean drinking water, reducing infant mortality and mortality of young mothers at child birth - for ALL and in Agriculture. It is all refelcted in human development index. That would take huge investment and political commitment. China has been doing it steadily for 50 years. India is nowhere near. Sri Lanka is ahead of India.

No good
by m.sundar on Dec 30, 2003 03:06 AM

you see rampened corruption and top officials selling their integrity. There are still doubts on pakistan's hidden agenda. pakistan is a disturbed nation where every other fellow is a militant. it isn't the 'feel good factor' which gives hope but 'globalization' that india is heading for. the primary focus is on education. all credit goes to our honourable president Sri. Abdul Kalam. people in tamilnadu and many other states do not feel good due to the lack of basic necessities such as water and electricity. leave alone proper roads, there are no roads in densely populated areas in metros like madras. i bet it'll take you an hour's time explaining a power cut to a chinese. unsafe drinking water, no proper standards set for consumables, spurious drugs, fake stamp papers, sanyasis and pandarams becoming heads of states, students and professionals running abroad for education and employement oppurtunities, religious violence, etc. the police in karnataka and tamilnadu hunted, are hunting, and will continue hunting for the forest brigand veerappan till he dies naturally. please consider the average indian. for him, life poses a greater threat than pakistan, saddam or osama.

This is true ........
by Bhaskar on Dec 29, 2003 08:14 PM

India will do better other than the country for the
last 14 years. That is true. Still the one thing should happen (River belt - Himalayas to Kanyakumari).
India will reach knowledge sharing with number one, But we need to improve internally. That's is water.
If the entire India connected with water, then we are Number one. No doubt about it. Already all the different environment they are showing there growth.

Please do it for our people also like farmers. (Mainly water). They are the back borne of our country. We should not forget.

Hope will do better.

India is India.

Jai Hind.

Regarding India's Election Laws
by Sarat Challa on Dec 29, 2003 10:11 AM

Hi,

I am not here to dampen the feel good factor. I would like to know the saner reason for letting a same politician to contest at more than one place during elections when there is a law saying no one can hold more than one seat in the election.

Everyone of them makes so many changes to many complex provisions. I just wonder why can't anyone overcome this minor glitch is still out of my insane mind, if you assume mine to be so.

There is also the issue of providing special accomdations to our "Leaders" while cooling there heels in Jail.

I don't see why any of these "Leaders" deserve that since I believe no sane Indian would believe that they did a great service to the nation to obtain that place in Jail (like Gandhi,Nehru).

I don't know whom to blame : the Media or the People.I believe that Media should take the major blame since the people believe a person in the way the media projects .Since it is the media which has the Perceptive touch on that "Leaders". The People simply gain exposure about "Leaders" from these perceptions.

I bring about this outrage in me because I Love my Country and hate to see in the present state.

Jai Hind

A promiscuous friend
by Venkat on Dec 27, 2003 10:13 PM

This is a nice illustration of the facts and a well balanced judgement. For those who are obsessesd with Indian software and economy, it is a nice reckoner and a word of caution about politicians and scams. Corruption, laziness and lack of discipline hinders the devlopment. It is the change in people's perception that brings development. Let the Prime minister be aware of Pak's hard core integrity(terrorism) and breach of trust. May his endeavours in transport between India and Pak should not be free import of infiltrates instead of trade. May God bless india.

Great Article
by Sandeep on Dec 27, 2003 04:53 AM

Hi,

This article about India is an adorable one.
Thanks for the effort & initiative.

I would like to present my additional views over this topic. We are worlds No.1 in IT.But has IT done anything for India except that all indians earn good money through jobs or exports? All the other countries use the indian expertise to grow/develop further. But we never used IT to do anything special for our own mother India. We should revolutionize India with our IT capability. Moreover I feel that giving way to privatisation and implementing e-governance could really enhance the system in India and would really help us fight against all the social evils.I really appreciate ministers like Chandrababu Naidu who are really a class apart.

Jai Hind!

India\\\'s Constitution
by Suresh on Dec 26, 2003 10:07 PM

Very well written article summarizing all the good things that are happening to India.
I must, however, point out that there is one overarching weak link in all this good news. India's contitution which is extremely archaic and detrimental to harmony within the country. It was written in a Town Hall meeting with something for everybody e.g. "Establishment of Central University in Andra Pradesh"(Article 371E). There are some other glaring problems with it that need to be corrected before India can play in the big league with U.S.

Excellent
by Daya Nair on Dec 26, 2003 08:56 PM

We Indians are a little overwhelmed by the positive trends in all spheres, what we need to see is how much of it is is just incidental, and how much is the result of efforts made by us?

Well.. we were a great country, we have the potential to be the greatest, with focus and dedication. One great threat, "Communal Hramony", The lack of this can kill the growth and reputation!
