"However, the Director of the Lucknow Zoo, Eva Sharma, said there was no need to kill the elephant, which could have been controlled by wildlife experts."
Evaji, Ram Lakhanji perhaps thought that he was talking to someone from his electorate. The elephant must have had some genuine complaint and grievance that needed to be remedied. And which the Mahout, the administrator, failed to remedy. So the matter went to the higher authority who perhaps tried to convey that the matter is being looked into and that he would revert later. This was not acceptable to the animal and it lost its taper, trampling upon its master, and got shot dead itself. Hundred of millions of grievances of the human beings of this country go unnoticed or rather completely ignored with deplorable indifference with the corrupt system rarely showing any willingness to improve. Perhaps the system is inviting for itself the fate that Ram Lakhanji ultimately met at the hands of the elephant.
