I do not think that the Army is going in for a "info warfare" dept. It rather appears that it is a Public Affairs Dept if the job content is going to be what is mentioned in the article.
Info warfare is a vast subject that includes accession and denial of information to the enemy; the use of info technology, and denial of the same to the enemy;passing of wrong information to the enemy and psy ops. What the Army is doing is that they are expanding the public relations office with a Maj Gen at the helm of affairs(creating another vacancy.)Yes, there is a need to give due importance to the public affairs to educate the general public and to ensure that authentic information is disseminated, but info warfare is totally another ballgame.

There is no doubt that information to be dissimated at all level. It is to be seen that how much information is released by Army through media. In Ministry of Defence information can not be released unless it is declassified. It is better this is dealt by civilian officer and let Army perform their duty at the front.
