Good Job... but...
by Sudhakar on Apr 10, 2003 06:54 PM

What happened to our own GSLV? Are we not spending a little too much towards it and not getting and equal results? We should have been sending our satalites with our own rockets by now...

Waste of money
by Arun on Apr 10, 2003 06:35 PM

All that ISRO does is a waste of money. If they launch satallites at this rate satallites will become obselete. Big power in the world are launching satallites every week and we launch one or two a year. Even if we have launched so many satallites where is the outcome. Has the telepone standard increased or the internet bandwidth higher, nothing has happened. People join ISRO to get good experience and then run to USA. All the services are rendered to USA. The problem is as a nation we do not have a strong leader not the motivation to go ahead.

don't get too excited
by Johnathan on Apr 10, 2003 05:33 PM

This is just another medicore effort by our medicore ISRO, which is bloated into thinking it is one of the best. That's what's wrong with us, we think we are the best in everything:
- best culture
- best food
- best democracy
- best cell phone network
- best software
- best engineering institutes
- best traditions
- best cricket team
etc. etc.

if you compare ISRO's efforts with those of international space agencies, you'll find that we are quite perky.

When are we going to shake off this lethargy and really start becoming the best

Indian Launch Vehicle
by Rajagopal on Apr 10, 2003 04:30 PM  | Hide replies

What happened to our own Satellite launch vehicle ? Last time we had launched one of the INSAT through our own 3 stage rocket and failed put it in geo-stationary orbit.

How long we will have to depend on foreign agency to launch our satellites?

We have perfected the Satellite technology and now we should develop a perfect launch vehicle of our own.

Nothing has happened to India's space program. It is currently sitting in the backyard on orders or USA.

Good Work but what is the use
by Ankur on Apr 10, 2003 04:17 PM

We should congractulate the team of ISRO, who did a great job in achieving it. But I think after the succesful test launch, we should have given more effort in getting GSLV in place rather than awarding two more contracts to some one else.
Also it is high time that our govt. organizations change their attitude and try to respect the peoples talent as well, else we will see more and more scientist quitting jobs and joining private organizations.

When India has advanced in space technology why not India sends spy satellite when the security threat is in its peak from its neighbouring countries.

ISRO should compete in international market and prove that we are not less than any developed country in technology.

Congrats

This is an important quantum jump towards the complete
self-reliant space research. Hope we will make the
giant leap of launching a space vehicle in a decade.
Congratulations and salutations.
