contact address for the organization ..
by sameer on Apr 03, 2003 03:43 AM  | Hide replies

I'm sure there are a lot of people who'd be willing to provide help(monetary/otherwise). A contact address for the organization along with the article would help.

Its a really good experiment and just hope the implementation and dedication of these stars continue for a longer period as in the inception.

Btw, Ekal Vidyalaya (One teacher schools) also do similar projects in really remote areas, will Rediff do a piece or two on these really dedicated people.

More needed like this...
by Ramesh Gopalan on Apr 03, 2003 03:34 AM

This is wonderful, but only a start... If cricketers and Bollywood actors put their weight behind it, india may move from being one of the least literate nation in the world to one which lives up to its reputation as the IT superpower of the world

You are right about your signature i.e. doesnt matter. People like you really dont matter because all they can do is crib about good work being done by whoever. It would help if such negativity is exposed for what it is worth. Its obvious that you dont have the courage of conviction to give your name.

learn from orgnsns which appear to be working and are proud about it

This is what India needs
by Manish Danani on Apr 02, 2003 04:59 PM

I really appreciate the effort that these people are taking. The progress of our nation is dependent on the children who are our next generation. If they are educated, only then we can see our country emerge as a major internation force in the world. I would like to congratulate these people and would like to get in touch with such people.

Similar work goes inside the IIT Bombay campus for the education of the slum dwellers' children. There are similar projects taken up by other IIT like Chennai, Delhi.

Pratham initiative.

Excellent, just excellent. I prey, let "Pratham" be very successful and we will see a transformed India. We need more "Pratham"s. Media should also take active role in social and cultural development in India through proper and thoughtful delivery of the true message and history, reaching out to common people in the country. Specially, according to my observation, WE ARE IN NEED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR HISTORICAL ACHIEVEMENTS, DISCOVERIES IN MEDICINE, TECHNOLOGY, THEORATICAL SCIENCES AND PHILOSOPHY. The country that forgets its history and its achievements, it doesn't have any future.
