Mr.Bush &Mr.Blair should be removed and arrestfor killing innocent people.
by waheed mohammed on Apr 02, 2003 01:54 PM

Mr.Bush concendering himself as a guardian of people of the whole world to save people from mr.saddam Hussain.

Is Saddam Hussain is a killer ? Like Mr.Bush & Mr.Blair! If you see all over the world Majority people all around the world is against war.If the people of Iraq has no objection with Mr.Saddam Hussain and his regime then who is Mr.Bush & Blair to interfere in other country interal matters.I think Mr.bush and Mr.Blair both should be removed from their positions. If they really want to save the world then they should not destroy with their own hands. They are not only killing Iraqi people they killing Americans and britishers as well.Only the people of iraq are not suffering with this war the people of whole world are suffering. They are not destroying the country Iraq but they are destroying the whole world.Because of this war people of the whole world facing Economical,Environmental,Developmental and social problems. Are they really saving this world ? or destroying this world before the time of destruction of this world.U.N. should intervene and stop this war as soon as possible to save innocent people and to save this world from destruction.

way to go saddam
by michael on Apr 02, 2003 01:50 PM

I think what the Americans are doing is just an act of aggression.Even if saddam uses chemical or biological weapons I think he has full right in doing so.what the america is trying to say to the world is they are helping iraqis to get freedom from saddam regime. If that is the case then why dont we see Iraqi people grlanding and felicitating American troops.

iraq war
by Razack Johny on Apr 02, 2003 01:34 PM

one of my friend just returned from Kuwait on casual leave told me that even Kuwaitis didn't endorse this war! They are very much anguish over the fact that they are not allowed to roam freely inside their own land which has been occupied by the U.S under the guise of protection TO kuwait after the 91 war.

IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS WAR IS NOT AGAINST SADDAM BUT FOR HIS OIL RESOURCES..

Lt. Gen. Randhawa's interview
by Sachin on Apr 02, 2003 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

With all due respect to the General, I don't think people sitting in India including the General have a clue as to the US public's mood. The Americans have thoroughly bought into the Bush Adm reasoning that this war is a continuation of thier defense in response to the 9/11 attacks and as such will provide almost unlimited support to the President this time around. Most analsysts here believe that even if there are 1000 or more US fatalities, the US military can still continue with their objective without worrying about the public reaction in the US. As is evident in the polls, the support for US action has grown as the war has progressed even while the US has suffered unforeseen casualties in the early part of the war.

The General's analysis of the Iraqi troops and equipment strength around Baghdad seems to be based on his admiration for Iraq rather than any fact. It is well known that no more than 100 of Iraq's tanks are T-72 battle ready. The rest of the equipment is close to 1960s junk and the troops are unwilling to fight. The Republican guard division is marginally better than the ordinary conscripts but is totally inferior to the US forces. Also, the total US air superiority would make most of Iraqi tanks and artillery useless and unmanuverable. So, the war is unlikely to last longer than 3 weeks after the US engages the Rep guard around Baghdad which has already begun.

So, the General is probably speaking more wistfully than realistically.

The average American certainly cannot find Iraq on a world map. This is very true even of many college-educated Americans. Another point is that all the American news channels that the Americans watch inside their own country project only the views of the Administration, specially after 9/11. Unless one goes to the websites of various media, they do not get to know what is happening in the world. Except for a very few "brave" Americans, nobody wants to risk being though "unpatriotic" because even speaking their minds openly, if it is not in line with the official version put out by the White House and the Pentagon, is seen as being disloyal and being traitors to the country. This is a new phenomenon after 9/11. Of course there are many many Americans who have come out on the streets to protest against the decision of the administration. It is true that the only news average Americans have inside that country on TV channels is what the administration wants them to hear. A lot of bravado, a lot of arrogance, a lot of insensitivity, a lack of feeling for the terrible tragedy befalling ordinary human beings..As we have seen, American and British lives are definitely more valuable than those of brown people!!!Also, the politicians do not have children in the ranks of the soldiers, they don't care about the deaths of the poor young men and women in their own army. The administration is saying is that they'll go on for "as long as it takes"..naturally, because it doesn't hurt them to see the total waste of this unjust war because their sights are on the large reserves of oil under Iraqi soil! Nobody questions the fact that Saddam Hussein hasn't been a ruler par excellence. When peaceful means could have been used reasonably to disarm him, these two chose to go to war, to test out their weapons and to control that part of the world. Nobody questions their ability to destroy Iraq completely but will the rest of the world have any respect for the superpower any more? Never mind Blair who is rightly called "the Poodle" of the US!! Power alone does not mean anything but magnanimity, humility, sensitivity, kindness etc are also ingredients for a great nation. The US, which does so many things right, has lost that high moral ground that it used to enjoy for ages..in two short years under this insane administration.
