Very nice review and praise for Village Rockstars. I've booked a ticket for 2nd Oct show at Cinepolis, Guwahati. Those who are willing to watch this masterpiece, be informed that the movie has been released last friday in almost all cinemas in Assam and most of the PVR cinemas across India.
Village Rockstar hit the theaters today in Assam. All are saying it is a real movie. Fresh and vibrant. Entertaining as well as colorful. Assamese movies have certain standard. Incidentally, the cost of making Village Rockstar is less than the cost of a song in any Hindi movie. Way to go Rima Das!
India produces very few Oscar nominated films. Because it believes in entertainment and business only where brilliant actors plays like a joker. It is not that they enjoy it but because they have to play like that to make their film box office hit. We Indians do not like Art Film we like only entertainment. Most of the Indians belongs to middle class family and they go to cinema hall for entertainment only not for the Art film or his historical film. Whatever the reasons the educated Indians must give respect to good films and help them to clinch International awards.
Reading your review, felt so happy for the team to have selected their movie for the Oscars. Just hope they get it because such movies which reflect things of the society in real and those which social messages should be ones who deserve recognition world wide and people see it so that the world over has a real image of India and not the glamorous and fake India shown in films.
It's not often that a wonderful film receives a wonderful review. Though the film is yet to be released in Bangalore (or perhaps elsewhere), it is not surprising that Assamese film-makers, at least some of them, are way above the rest in the industry. While I am certain that the film will be as good as the reviewer says it is, I certainly would say that the review itself is lyrical, poetic and persuasive. A great review!
