I think the I & B ministry should organise a group photo with President if the President express inability to attend the function for more than one hour. This will atlease give some sense of pride to the winners.
Can you really blame a President if, for health reasons, he cannot stand for 3 hours to give awards to all National Award winners? Those with ultra-fat egos do not even deserve awards. Being given a National award is a recognition in itself. Recognition from the entire nation. Signed by the President himself. Why these unnecessary fuss and controversies! Even if the Vice President had given away some awards, there would be controversies. Lessons: (1) Why so many awards that they require 3 hours to give away; Restrict awarding to just 25-50 every year. (2) Elect only healthy, gym-going, strong-footed persons as Presidents; take their interview with them standing for 3 hours; (3) Have three or four separate award giving functions of about 1 hour each, merging some categories of awards; (4) Invite able-bodied Presidents of other countries (Macron, Trump, Kin Jon Un, etc.) as Chief Guests to give away awards. It's not only politicians but even citizens like the awardees that make politics a dirty game! Stop that grumbling at the drop of a hat! What next!!!
Kovind is a an apology of a persona for the post of President. He was brought in only and only because of his loyalty to the RSS. He is the worst president till date, even worse than Pratibha patil, who until Kovind came, held that distinction. The national awardees, who are the Pride of the nation, need not feel betrayed. They should be happy that they did not get their awards from the worst president of India ever. He has no stamina, no personality, no knowledge absolutely nothing. What a waste.
He is not worthy to be the Prez then what's worth to recieve award from him. Sorry Mr President you had shown your stuff disappointing all and hope the National film awards are boycotted from next year till we have a presidential change. The Prez has hours of time when he meets sadhus and sanyasini and other religious heads..

After all, it is not as though receiving an award from Ram Nath Kovind is the same as receiving one from Dr S.Radhakrishnan !!
The Presidents office is the most exalted one in the land. But the identity of the occupant certainly matters !
And the office of the President just cannot retain all of its dignity if the occupant is just a hand picked stooge and rubber stamp of the ruling party !!
Those who received the award from the social butterfly Ms Smriti Irani have not really missed much !
