Ayush deserves all the credit that is coming his way, but this is also a larger shift in trends. 21st century Bollywood is now putting out more smaller films with relatable and realistic stories and an emerging crop of younger stars are perfectly suited for it. These youngsters (Ayush, Rajkumar, Sushant, Vicky, Tapsee, Kangna, Vidya to name a few) don't come with any industry baggage (i.e not star kids) and as a result don't have any qualms taking up roles in smaller bollywood fare. They are in a way following in the footsteps of Irffan and Nawazuddin. This trend of realistic/relatable story telling is well established in regional film sectors. The filmography of major stars like Mohanlal, Madhavan, Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi and even Kamal is chock-full of low profile films. The current bollywood output is candyfloss in comparison and has a long way to go. P.S - Of the films mentioned here - Shubh Mangal Savdhaan is the remake of a tamil movie & Badhaai Ho has the same theme as the classic malayalam movie Pavithram (1994)
