Bollywood audiences taste and sensibilities defy logic

Bollywood audiences taste and sensibilities defy logic because they love hopeless and mindless entertainers like Race3 and make it a box office winner while do not give a minimum chance of small films like Karwaan, Mulk to atleast recover their cost so that more good producers come forward to make good movies with good subjects and talented creative people get a chance. Movies have now becomes primarily focussed on stars and marketing. How do we get good movies then when there are stars like Irfan and even the cute Dulquer and many other talented actors wanting to act in good realistic movies. Atleast audiences of the 70s were better, while they patronised masala movies of Amitabh and other stars, equally they patronised movies of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Basu Chatterjee, Govind Nihlani, Shyam Benegal and also stars like Naseer, Om Puri, Amol Palekar, Shabana, Smita Patil, Utpal Dutt etc. etc. and a lot of good actors in this league. Looks like hifi life style has impacted the thoughts of people today.
