He did not buy the ferrari, it was gifted to him by FIAT when he broke bradman's record of 29 centuries. The cost of the car was 75Lakh, the tax on it was 1.3Crore. Does it make any sense?
Remember, he did not go to a showroom and buy the ferrari. It was a gift. The controversy was not why he got the tax waiver, it was why others did not. Eventually, FIAT decided to pay the tax and give the car, so no tax was forgone.
