There was a certain class in yesteryear actors

Even if they may not be called acting talent powerhouse, yesteryear actors whether A, B or C grade had some charm and honesty in their outlook that people used to like and love them not just for their heroics in movies, but just as one among them. And Shashi was one of the most charming and really handsome actor whose smile and style was unique and that is why females used to get floored by him. Wow those where the days when watching a movie was a family outing among all class of people. I still remember when I was a kid and go to movies, Dad used to like Sanjeev Kumar, Ashok Kumar, but mom's favourte used to be and love Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra etc., and myself as a kid used to like Amitabh and other action heroes. Thats why I was lucky to see all sorts of films and all sorts of actors and as such was connected to them. The beauty of yesteryear actors were that even a village guy in some remote place used to feel like one of them and like them because they had a charm, class and honesty. Not only that, even being in luxury of Mumbai, the actors used to feel for those in villages and remote areas and hence were lovingly potraying those characters to perfection. Shashi's romantic scenes were also so real and to the core that it had a beauty in themselves and never looked vulgar or purposeful. And because of Shashi Kapoor, we could get to see such great multistarrers especially with Amitabh and what a fun and chemistry they had, which these days are not at all seen.

I lost my hero.
by Ahi Sen on Dec 05, 2017 11:51 AM

During my young age i used to see lot of Hindi and Bengali films. My liking for Sashi Kapur was because of his facial expressions in different films. His movement of eyebrows with great smile had a charming effect that no other Hindi film hero could ever create. May his soul rest in peace.
